Players didn't get picked

With the 2013 draft finally over, there were many players selected from around the world. With this in mind there was plenty of talent not selected. Who in your opinion should've been selected, but wasn't?

As for myself, I was surprised to see Luka Gracnar, Ebbe Sionas, & Lukas Wallmark not picked.

Based on what? THey had him him for camp and had a long look at him. It's obvious they didn't really like him all that much.

Just out of curiosity, what is the procedure for signing undrafted players?

Rangers brought in Joby Messier as a favor to Mark...this was a nice gesture by the Devils org and a thank you to Martin Brodeur. No Devil fan thought Anthony Brodeur was going to amount to anything.

its based on age...if guys are young enough they need to re-enter the draft next year and can't be signed. if a guy was passed over multiple years and is over 20 they become ufas and can just sign with anyone

No one will really know how these picks will turn out. Probably have to wait 5 years and see where they are.

They needed high end skill forwards, and judging by the looks of it, that's what they selected, so I'm not overly disappointed in this draft, especially with the lack of picks early on. I was hoping they could get into the top 5-7 overall, but that didn't happen.

Once Tambellini and Buchnevich get physically stronger, they should be able to take their game to the next level. Duclair and Erne had the off ice incident earlier this past season, hopefully Duclair learned from that and won't have any more issues. He's a very talented player, if he can keep his head on straight, this could be a steal. I've never heard of the goalie Skapski, so I can't comment on him. Personally I like the Ryan Graves selection as I've seen him play and is from my local area. He'll be back in Major Junior next season. He won't be a top pairing d'man, but I hope he continues to progress and be a very useful player. Definitely has the size and not afraid to fight if he has too; hopefully his offensive game comes along further as he matures and develops.

I know nothing about any of these kids individually, but I love the approach the team took in this draft based on the scouting reports. Three upside forwards who fell due to flags, a big, mean defenseman in the Sam Noreau mold and a goalie prospect who really came on in the second half of the year? Sign me up.

Can't believe people are now complaining that we didn't draft grinders. This team needs talent. For YEARS they drafted guys whose CEILINGS were 2nd line and now we're complaining that we didn't draft role players?!? Heck, even our first rounder last year is a safe bet to end up somewhere in the middle six when he finishes developing.

The Rangers have suffered desperately from the lack of homegrown high end scoring talent for years. Drafting where we are, you need to take these kinds of players (honestly, even if we'd had a 1st or a 2nd they'd have needed to roll the dice on players with flaws - the flags just wouldn't have been quite as red) if you want to have a chance of getting them.

Now, because our bottom six disappointed last year, we need to draft grinders? We have done well drafting them as others have pointed out. We have guys in the system that if they don't pan out offensively could still be effective bottom six guys (Miller leads the list along with Yogan, Hrivik, Jean, Bourque, Fogarty and even guys like Nieves and Lindberg). We just happened to run into a situation last year where:

1) we had traded some quality middle of the roster guys away (Dubinsky, Anisimov);
2) other guys who had played in the bottom six in past years were playing in the top six (Cally, Hags, Step);
3) the guys in the system weren't quite ready yet (see the list above); and
4) the vets brought in to fill the role disappointed.

**** happens. Teams that don't make the finals obviously have holes - it's almost ironic that we suffered from a lack of quality depth play, given that for years that was ALL we had.

I've been clamoring for the team to take this approach for years. LOVE hearing "first round talent, but for X." Take a Duclair over a Wilson every time.

Revisionist history. Two years ago people thought he had actual potential. Well, Debs fans did. Don't make stuff up now. Kid was thought of as a late first round pick and fell like a rock as he aged. Not even a too 50 goalie in NA.

Still interesting that we passed on Bell THREE times (and one entire draft before). They clearly were not a fan of his after having him in camp. You'd have thought the Rangers would take him if they remotely liked him.

And every other team passed on him like 5-6 excluding the Devils. Clearly he was not very highly regarded.

Tyler Hill. Shocked no one picked him even in the fifth or sixth rounds. 6 foot 6. Project pick.

Oh, wait. Really? Hill went undrafted? Nevermind. That's a shocking non-pick.

Some good names in there.

Connor Rankin reminds me in ways of Adam Graves. Good little fighter, plays a tenacious game.

Trainor and Arvidsson are very skilled, surprised they were passed over, but it happens every draft.

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 13h
Surprising no draft. RT @OHLHoundPower: Sergey TOLCHINSKY to attend New York Rangers Training Camp beginning tomorrow morning.

Can anybody post the Rangers Training Camp list? Maybe somebody should start a Rangers Training Camp thread and sticky it.
