Hockey Lobby 2013 Mock Draft - Final Edition

Hey guys! Finally, here's the final Mock Draft of Hockey Lobby for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft! Only 1 day away from the big day that we've been all waiting for! It's been a fun year studying and reviewing this draft class and I hope you enjoy the mock as well.

As always, feel free to comment; critics and appreciation are both welcomed!

Thank you guys,

Jabba11

Colorado Avalanche - Nathan MacKinnon (C)
NHL COMPARISON: Taylor Hall + Tyler Seguin
SKINNY: Joe's pick, Patrick's pick, Rick's pick, Colorado's pick.
2.
Florida Panthers - Seth Jones (D)
NHL COMPARISON: Keith Yandle + Alex Pietrangelo
SKINNY: Might not be a generational player, but will be the Panthers franchise defensemen.
3.
Tampa Bay Lightning - Jonathan Drouin (LW)
NHL COMPARISON: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins + Patrick Kane
SKINNY: Martin St-Louis replacement might become even better than him.

I know some people thought I was joking too when I put the same comparison on my previous mock draft. But, I really like that comparison for Rielly and I will remind everybody that in no way it is to overrate Rielly who isn't in the NHL yet but Morrissey and Rielly are similar in style for me and it's a positive thing.

Pretty decent. Not totally sold on the Morin pick with guys like Mantha and Rychel still on the board (we kind of need LWs and but bad), but I could live with it - especially with Horvat and Zykov as the other two picks.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

There's positional need, but if you get Morin, Horvat and Zykov without having to move anything you win the draft lol.

Absolutely sucks for Dallas. We would not pass on Nurse.

That yellow text was really flipping hard to read against a white background.

That said, I definitely could see the Sharks taking Mantha.

I would guess that the Leafs would take Pulock and Gauthier over Rychel...but they'd take Rychel with those two gone.

Thanks, I've changed back to black so it would be easier to read!

In the 2nd round, I can see Buffalo going for Justin Bailey. Huge kid from Williamsville NY with huge potential.

Probably the only Islanders fan that would absolutely love Fucale. One of the only weaknesses in the organization.

We have a blue chipper in Strome up front and a blue chipper in the back in Reinhart... Poulin and Nilsson are not anywhere near Fucale so.

Ottawa would not pick Hartman if Rychel and Mantha were still on the board. No way in hell we pass those 2 over.

Neither of Rychel nor Mantha has the work ethic and competitiveness of Hartman. I remember DGK(Sens tan) hating on Mantha. Hartman would be an excellent addition to the Sens IMO. He's so versatile and is talented. Seth Jones said that if he had to draft a guy from this draft, it would have been his team USA teammate.

Wow what a draft that was. Now that it's over, here are the results of my predictions for the 1st round:

27 of the 30 players of the mock were actually drafted in the 1st round = 90% accuracy
6 of the 30 players were actually drafted at the predicted spot = 20% accuracy

Notable accurate predictions:

1. MacKinnon
3. Drouin
8. Ristolainen
20. Mantha
23. Burakovsky
28. Klimchuk

Notable accurate 1st rounders:

Émile Poirier

Players who didn't come out in the 1st round as predicted:

Valentin Zykov
Adam Erne
Madison Bowey

Comparison with TSN Bob McKenzie:

26 out of the 30 players predicted actually went in the 1st round = 86.7% accuracy
He did not make any mock draft as he only had rankings but during the show, TSN panel considered it as a mock draft:

3 out of the 30 players predicted actually went at that position = 10% of accuracy
1.Mackinnon
3. Drouin
8. Ristolainen

This is the first time I analyze my own predictions and to compare them with Bob McKenzie's. This was done not to claimed or brag about anything but I am very happy with the results and to be just as much as accurate as Bob McKenzie is a great reward after a full year of armchair scouting.

Thank you everyone for reading and commenting, see you next year!
