I figured NSH would deal a Dman. Good deal for both IMO

I like this deal for Nashville. Blum has been a disappointment. Greening looked very good in the playoffs would add size, speed, and a bit of scoring to a team in need of offense.

Not a fan. Greening is actually useful in a lot of roles, Blum is an unnecessary gamble.

Note: I also thought that Foligno was worth a lot more than Methot. I got some humble pie out of that one. I'm glad I wasn't as opposed to that deal as some people were.

Blum has been beyond brutal for the last two seasons, after a dynamite stretch in his NHL debut.

Greening could be a good role player in the bottom six, with Halischuk, Mueller and Yip all being let go to free agency.

Would be a bit upset over the loss of Greening. I feel that management has no problem dealing him since he's never been consistent in his forechecking.

So Ottawa trades Foligno for D because Greening was essentially going to replace him, now they're trading Greening for more D? Strange...

Greening stood out for me when watching the Sens plays the Pens. He would be a solid addition to the Preds imo.

I don't see why Ottawa would deal Greening. He's done a pretty good job for them.

Greening had a great playoffs, but he's never been consistent.

I'd have to imagine Nashville adding something. Blum has regressed and wasn't there talk of him not getting a qualifying offer?

Just as Nashville has too many defensemen, Ottawa has way too many forwards. We already let Latendresse and Regin go and put Daugavins on Waivers last year. Otherwise we would have had 17 NHL forwards to start the season.

If Alfredsson comes back we'll have too many again. Spezza, Michalek, Alfredsson, Turris, Silfverberg, Greening, Smith, Condra, Zibanejad, Neil, O'Brien, Kassian, Pageau, and Conacher. That's 14.

On top of that, Ottawa has the following guys in the AHL who will/might need NHL ice-time: Stone, Noesen,. Puempel, DaCosta, Petersson (Maybe), Hoffman, Grant, etc...

It's a log jam to say the least. DaCosta and Hoffman especially will be vulnerable to being lost on Waivers

Edit: If you don't trade Greening...who's it going to be? Everyone else is equally valuable in their role...except maybe O'Brien

The Sens had like 16-18 forwards who could conceivable play at the NHL level this season, someone had to go.
