Hagg can at least be physical and has a very good shot. So already better than Carle .

Two years in Sweden is great to hear. The SHL is a better league than the AHL so he will be learning against quality competition.

Especially when there are also probably better players over in the SEL as well.

I really like this pick. He's so much like Mattias Ohlund, who I consider to be one of the most under rated defensemen ever to play the game. If Morin reaches his potential and if Hagg also reaches his potential, the Flyers might have found two defensemen who can be top pairing guys.

ISS compared Hagg to John Carlson. Is there any merit to that for those who watched him?

Carlson is a good comparison. I was ****ing pissed when homer pissed away a first rnd pick on Eminger with Carlson on the board. I think Hagg kinda plays ahead of himself. I thought he was kind of a ***** for how big he is.

Damn, his stride is so smooth, he looks like hes not even trying but he's moving so much faster then everyone else, his puck movement looks top notch and he was throwing some pretty big hits too. How many guys are throwing hip checks in the U18 tourny? Based on that, how did he fall all the way to 41

Yeah Haag doesn't even look like he's trying at all in that video. And I mean that in a good way.

Love the pick. Never thought that Hägg would be still out there at 41.

Solid two way defenseman. In the worst case, they just found themselves another Coburn.

This is the type of defenseman I love. Smart all round player. Seems we drafted both ends of the spectrum with Morin and Hägg. Hoping for the best for both, Hägg I do beleive will make the lineup first. Solid day.

Hagg should be on the Swedish U-20 team again this Christmas since he is still 18, so we'll all get a chance to see him again. Obviously the best value-pick Holmgren has made post-round 1 since becoming GM.

Hagg has got some great skating also. Pretty cool to watch him in the video keep up stride with stride with last years first overall in Yakupov

Yea that's what I noticed too.

A lot of top end D talent comes out of the second round. I think that from D being hard to scout and project and the fact that you are a lot less likely to be rushed.

If morin caps off as a nasty sick defender and Hagg continues as a two way player we should be vey well off having two starters of the future. You hope that one of Gus and Gost hits big and then you have schenn as our anchor that's not too bad at all and then fill out the rest with UFA.

I really don't see us anywhere near a top 10 pick for at least the next 5-7 years so hopefully they stay smart with the later picks

This made me satisfied balancing out Morin in the first round. A little skill and a lot of movement ability. Love the pick!

Hockey Prospect Black Book write-up (ranked 31):

"Robert has shown us a wide array of play in our viewings. He has looking both outstanding and invisible in different games, and sometimes in the same game. He has has excellent size but generally only seems to use it when he feels it’s absolutely necessary. In the defensive zone he shows good positioning and knowledge of the play going on around him, but can get a little lazy and look uninterested resulting in unnecessary turnovers in his own end. He is capable of passing the puck from long distances but also effectively in the offensive zone. When he loses his focus, that is generally where the puck playing mistakes come. One of Robert’s strongest assets is his shot. He has a big blast he can unload from the point and usually chooses good shooting options. He gets so much power behind it, when it doesn't beat the goaltender generally it results in a nice big rebound for his forwards to jump on. Hagg is a player who we've felt all season long possesses the tools to be a great defenseman but lacks the mindset to be a great defenseman. Robert has the upside to be one of the best defensemen in the entire 2013
NHL Entry Draft. However his downside is just as drastic in the opposite direction. He will be a bit of a risky pick for this draft, but one that could potentially pay off big time."

Quotable: "This is a player that extends scouting meetings. I think he has top 10 ability but he only occasionally flashed it for me. I'd see one shift and love what I saw and then on the next shift he would leave me wondering what he was doing. His compete level was on and off. This was another player I had plenty of conversations about with NHL scouts. It seemed like most teams staffs had a wide range of opinions. Everywhere from top 10 to late 30's" -Mark Edwards

Quotable: "Early in the season my reports were negative, late in the year they were all positive." -NHL scout

Quotable: "At the Hlinka he played like he had a piano on his back. He got much better in my viewings later on this season. I really like him." -NHL scout

So it seems he really started to step up his game in the later half of the season.

I don't think it's a hockey sense problem, which is a good thing. It seems like a maturity issue. Confidence, laziness, focus are all things that can be solved with maturation/getting older.

The foreign announcers (Swedish?) were pronouncing it Haygue.

Well on Swedish Elite Prospects it has his name as Hägg

Don't the 2 dots above an a give it an "ah" sound when pronounced?
