My biggest frustration was who was gone by 25. That we couldn't get those players and seeing on which teams those players ended up....

Otherwise I'm warming up to the picks.

I was really disapointed when Philly took him but I knew it. Still mad about it.

Its always like that in Montreal we take the rest, thank god we got Galchenyuk its a miracle. McCarron is a cool choice to make the team bigger but he will be a 3rd liner let's face it... I really thought if a Mantha or Gauthier would approach the 20th spot that the Habs would trade up to get em... im not even talking about Shinkaruk still available @24...

This is why many of us think this draft is a huge fail. Drafting by needs is never a good thing in the NHL for a few reasons, the most obvious are : those prospects will only help the team 4-5 years down the road and it's already hard enough to find future NHLers that going with those with less skill (but more size) is already a strike against them.

.
Flyers are to the Q , what Wings are to Sweden... If Morin would have gone to many other teams I wouldn't have minded. I know when drafting from the Q, Flyers scouting staff know their **** more than Leafs or whoever else...

Lehkonen is 5'11.... how is he a smurf? He just needs to add 20-30 pounds and he'll be fine...

Didn't you know that its not the size that makes you a smurf but your belonging to the habs

McCarron must be papa smurf then

Question for you guys that aren't satisfied with the draft

Would you have rathered the Habs have another horrible season (like 2011-2012) so we could draft in, let's say, the top 5? Personally, I wouldn't have minded and would have LOVED to get Darnell Nurse!

I think that McCarron will work out for us in the long run. If he has any skills at all we can pair him with say Galchenyuk and Pacciorretti or Gallagher and he can be the policeman. Big guy who can play top 6 minutes is a good thing.

Only question is if we'll regret missing out on some of the other players who were still around. And by all accounts we got a steal out of Fucale so that's something to be happy about.
Several of you guys here wanted Zykov but clearly the Habs didn't. They not only passed at 25 but also at 34 and 36. I hope this helps you guys move on from him as a result of being rebuffed three times by Timmons and Co.

Considering Timmins mentioned his friend worked with Zykov, they obviously knew something about him that made them not consider him.. He may have been chosen had Fucale been gone.

I feel empty, only because it's another year before our next draft.

I'm sorry if this has already been answered but... what happened to our 7th rounder ? Traded, but for what?

I think the people upset with this pick had another guy in mind, like Zukov for one.

I think we traded our 7th this year for their 7th next year.

His height is the least of my concerns over him; I'm more concerned about his health, having been concussed a few times I believe.

It may have been said in this thread before but, in order to trade up in the draft you need 2 things
1) a willing trade partner
2) a reasonable price for the move
It's easy to say we coulda shoulda traded up, but at what cost and with who?
MB is trying. Props to him.
I have no issues with our draft choices as I do not yet own a cristal ball

I'm sure he tried; it didn't happen; move on. Guys who are crying over MB not trading to move up really can't speak intelligently here without all the facts. So why bother?

Jesus.. So many unhappy people here. Again, why is drafting based on needs a bad thing? We already have so much skill in collberg, bozon, hudon and kristo. And may I add.. GALCHENYUK and GALLAGHER. This year is about size, grit and depth. And we got it. Having 12 skilled guys in a lineup will never win you a cup. Need balance and role players like McCarron, Crisp and de la Rose.

Priorities, guys!

The emptiness is the realization that we've done nothing as of yet to improve a team that was outclassed in the playoffs.

We did everything we could to improve that team... We brought in character guys who play important roles in playoff success. Montreal is missing a big strong crease clearing Dman in the future and this team will succeed give it time, we will not be a Stanley cup team next year or even the year after but we've added great young pieces to a group that is already filled with talent... Galchenyuk, Gallagher, subban, price, Eller, tinordi, beaulieu, kristo, collberg, vail, hudon, Jacod de la rose, dietz, McCarron, Fucale, Lehkonen that is insane!!! So proud of the future this team will have!!!

Fucale I was against picking at 25 but at 36 I'm okay with taking a chance on him. The rest of the guys are good quality picks that add to our prospect pool. All the habs are really missing to be serious contenders in the future is a big bruising Dman (god morin would have been perfect!!!)
Jarred Tinordi is not a big, bruising Dman ?

He's big and I love him but to fill the need for me he'd have to gain some pounds and strength... But he could easily fill the role I would just like 2 guys like him one with PK and one with Beaulieu
