Colorado - Philadelphia

To Philadelpha:

Greg Zanon

To Avalanche:

Andrej Meszaros

No need to for a sales pitch. Both these assets have low value. Meszaros may be chronically damaged goods and have on year left with a $4M cap hit. Gamble/reclamation project for Avs.

Zanon is a bottom pairing defender that's not particularly good but it would save Flyers $1.75M against the cap and at least you can trust Zanon to play games.

Zero hesitation from Avs on this one. Zanon is useless

I look at this as an expected value question. Meszaros is more injury prone, but if he plays, he's significantly better than Zanon. Plus, Zanon has no offensive ability, and Meszaros does. We have guys like Schenn and Grossmann who are defensive only. Meszaros gives us a little more well-roundedness.

The only reason we would trade Meszaros is to save cap, but only saving 1.75m doesn't make it worth it to downgrade to Zanon. I'd rather hold on to Meszaros to see if he can finally rebound than get Zanon, since we know what we would get with Zanon (not much).

Yeah, I'd pull the trigger pretty quickly on this one. I can see why Philly wouldn't be as excited.

It seems both Flyers and Avs fans love this proposal. Glad we could agree.

Fine, we'll give you another $650,000 in cap space.

Hunwick for Meszaros.

What about if Colorado kept half of Zanon's cap hit?

He's going to be healthy to start the season, though. They'll have to wait for him to get injured again to put him on LTIR.

Would trade Zanon and a 4th for a 5th. Dead serious.

No from Flyers mez have one 1year left in his contract and then his 5.5m cap is gone, mza is not going unless you're giving up a pick or a prospect
