I like it. Newbury is a good guy to have as a call-up.

When its midnight in Hershey and you need a place to eat it's always good to have a veteran to go to for advice.
Of course, Syvret could do that too, but it is always good to try new places.

Talk about nuts. I'm trying to calm these psychos down on Facebook. I like this move.

Nope traded potulney for him and bordaon for him never actually traded him. We also picked him up off waivers once. He has signed minor league deals with the ducks and blues besides us

I just find it so odd that a guy like him can tear up the AHL at nearly a PPG and then have 9 points in 70 games at the next level.

Just seems so weird he can't contribute more effectively.

I saw a bunch of people freaking out on the beat writers about the Morin pick. Most of them thought he was strictly a goon because TSN only really talked about his physicality and pugilistic skills yesterday when he was picked.

Maybe he could, but he just fits the bottom six grinder call-up role so well. From what I've read he's very slow tho.

I guess they just wanted to make guaranteed ice time for...

Konan
Alt
Lamarche
Manning
Lauridsen

Plus, they are stuck with two unmovable non-prospects in Eddy and Hostetter. Also, adding a little veteran scoring in Newbury is a good thing.

Exactly. For the Phantoms its a win-win. Opens up a spot on defense and adds a vet forward to a group of kids. Not a bad minor league trade. Gotta have someone teach the youngins like Flanagan, Cousins, Mathers, Straka and Raffl. Teach them in a sense of getting ready for the pro leagues.

Oh ok thanks. I remember his first goal while at the winter classic in Boston!

The Phantoms look to finally have some decent depth down there now:

Forwards:
Akeson
McGinn
Cousins
Straka
Raffl
Noebels
Flanagan
Johnson
Alderson
Brown
Homstrom
Mathers

Defense:
Lauridsen
Manning
Alt
Konan
Mangene
Lamarche
Eddy
Hostetter

Goalies:
Heeter

Obviously no future stars but some potential NHL talent, which is a step up from the past while.

I like the move a lot. He's a great AHL player and will be great for the guys on the phantoms to have around. Also opens up more time for Lauridsen and other D prospects
