Nashville Predators absolutely the cream of the NHL in picking future defencemen get the best one in years in Seth Jones and follow him up with Johnathan I. Diaby with their 1st pick in the 3rd round, second OV. Look out for that defence in years to come and they get Jusse Saros as a backup goalie to top off their draft.

Now that the draft is over, here's how the WJC's are shaping up,

Team USA- Vail, McCarron (hope both make it, McCarron is from the USNDTP so he'll make it if not this year then next, both were invited to the Summer Tryout Camp)

Team Canada- Hudon, Fucale (both could be there, not sure what the goalie situation looks like though)

Team Sweden- Collberg, Jacob De La Rose (both locks)

Team Finland- Artturi Lehkonen (lock)

Team Slovakia- Martin Reway (lock)

Team France- Bozon I'm assuming he skips again

I'm pretty sure Fucale is a lock also

glad this thread is relevant again!

hudon's gotta be a lock, fucale BETTER be a lock if what we hear about him is this extravagant

didnt know collberg was still eligible? de la rose is a clear lock, he looks like excels so well ON a team full of swedes and is already one of their bigger players/better forecheckers (well, an overall good team), great to hear about lehkonen hope he dazzles, dont know anything about reway :/

but damn thats fun, ..i remember where we prayed for ONE prospect to make the WJC, now were loooaded

Edit : i dont see how they leave someone like McCarron off team USA. i dont care how good 5"6 grimaldi was

I believe Bozon skipped to go last season because France was in the 2nd division. They actually made it to the best group this season, so I expect Bozon to go. 2nd division of the WJC is actually a worse caliber than the WHL, so that's why Tim stayed in Kamloops.

yes he is, and if he has another good tournament stats wise, he'll end up among the top all time scorers for Team Sweden at the U-20's. Since the tournament is in Sweden, hopefully he has a big tournament.

he skipped because France was in Div 1A but they lost and were regulated to Div 1 Group B next year.

Who do you guys rate better? DLR or Collberg?

I kept hearing that this year's draft was so deep and last year's sucked yet I think Collberg is the clear better player and he was drafted almost at the same position.

Collberg has MUCH more offensive upside, but if DLR can develop an offensive game, he'll be more of a complete forward.

At this point though, Collberg has top 6 potential whereas DLR will likely develop into a pretty darn good bottom 6 guy.

I think Collberg has more offensive potential but DLR is more of a sure thing to reach the NHL.

When do you expect to have your updated prospect ranking completed. I am looking forward to see what you think of the depth in the organization.

Good find. Looks like he won't go. Was pretty sure they made it past Div1A

Collberg definitely has more offensive potential, DLR is more in the Kulemin mold.

I was actually quite impressed with Collberg's defensive effort during the WJC though.

I haven't seen much of DLR yet but at this point I would still go with Collberg although I admit I think i'm higher on him then most are. That said, one would think that DLR is the safer bet in the NHL.

I likely won't rank the prospects for several months as I will need time to watch videos and clips to get at least somewhat of a feel for what each can do and to see where they are at in their development stages. I used to have more free time but with work getting busy I've had to cut back on the amount of hockey I watch, so I stopped following draft eligible prospects which means I need to catch up in the summer.

Whats a realistic expectation of seeing McCarron with the big club? 2-3 years? Maybe Grant can give us an idea.

Quoted by Mr. Timmins himself......."McCarron is a player that will fit into our lineup"

He didn't mean right away though, he needs at the very least another year in junior, most likely 2-3.

Im thinking not. That pick was a pick of need, and I think he will be playing in the NHL next year.

lol. McCaron is not even close to NHL ready. He'd even be crap in the AHL right now.

I think Big Mac is a lock for USA after his U18 and the fact he is a perfect fit on the 4th line AT WORST.

Going to be really fun WJC, 5 teams with Habs prospects - FIN, CAN, SWE, SVK pretty much guaranteed to have one with a significant role.

Is the Juniors in Europe ? If so he might get the Tom Wilson treatment. Good enough for the team, but if a big man can skate European refs call penalties on them for even stepping on the ice.
