Ok this may be a stupid question but do we really want or need him to get bigger? He's huge right now and if he gets bigger couldn't that just hurt his ability to get pucks in his skates and his quickness and agility etc? Just wondering bc a 6'6 forward plus starts going into uncharted territory. I know Boogard was huge but he was pretty much pure goon (rip)

The Canadians wasted a first round pick for a maybe fourth liner.

What a disgrace
OK, first, it's Canadiens...second, go troll somewhere else, Laff fan; POed just cuz our monster has a higher upside than yours...third, it's Canadiens...

And you've seen him play how many times? Thought so...

The fact of the matter is HE IS 6'6 and 240 pounds, he does skate well, he is mean and he does have some untaped offensive potential. I'll enjoy watching a team that can be the agressor while you sit home and whine about what if's if Gionta or Desharnais were 6'3 players.

Way late on this, but Andy Murray's ''will be better for his speed and skill to play in the NCAA'' argument on Tony's show this morning is kind of ridiculous.

The OHL has produced more speed and skill, regardless of size, than any other league recently.

We'd always be in the finals, winning the Stanley cup one year out of two.

What's even better with McCarron, is that he has a natural mean streak. It's a part of him. We're Lucky!

Good for you. You got free things. Yay! Some of us here can pay for tickets, you know?

As for your first round pick, enjoy that softie of yours... Joe Colborne rings a bell to you?

IF you're not a Leafs fan, well let me say this one more time; you DESERVED everything we've got in the last 20 years. Literally. Each and every beating/embarassing moments/playoffs exit. Each and every one. You deserved it.

Check the old draft threads. Grant was adamant that getting him at 25 would be a great pick. You could also just go to grant's profile and search for all posts ever made by him and sift through them.

Disagree wholeheartedly with both your and Yianik's opinions. McCarron has a good first step for his size. He's an excellent skater with tremendous reach..covers a pile of territory out there.

Look at the videos that were provided today - the preliminary game versus Finland is a good example - he showed everything one needs to see in his first three shifts in the game. He was the US's best prospect in that game by a wide margin.

Forechecked hard and smartly, intercepted passes with good anticipation, quickness and long reach, unleashed a hard low wrister that Saros had to make a good save on, screened the goalie and was immovable..plowed over three Finns in one shift, made a few smart give and gos with linemates, had excellent gap control with his dmen, providing them with an open target on pretty much every cycle back into his own zone, skated back hard...Nothing wrong with his vision, nothing wrong with his playmaking. He created a lot of scoring opportunities, and almost had a couple of goals on redfirects in front of the net if not for the solid play of Saros.

He will play next season in London with Domi and Horvat and be a dominant force in the OHL. He'll be allowed to be physical on the Knights, and won't be stuck playing with Tyler Kelleher when he should be on a top line providing a physical presence and skill.

An NHL scout emailed me today and remarked at how surprised he is that McCarron is so underrated by independent scouting services. He thinks he has great upside, and as he told me..knows how to "saucer a pass". I feel the same way...I may even end up having McCarron in my top 15 by draft day.

This is my last post on McCarron. As I said a few days ago - amazes me how many people on this board are emphatically anti McCarron..seems like a couple of new McCarron detractors chime in each day.

Habs didn't draft him for his speed and skill. He needs to develop the grit too. OHL is the better option if he wants to do all three.

He thrua Bear over his head....
Was you mad when Habs drafted PK SUBBAN at 43???

Fucale was ranked 16th overall by Button, was you mad Habs took him at 36?
Craig Button Had McCarron at 34 overall...what is your problem again??,
Did you scout McCarron like Craig Button did?

http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=9423

Quote:
TSN Scout Craig Button:
Michael is a massive winger with touch in his hands and the ability to make plays. Has good awareness and with the ability to impact the game with his size which carves out some room for himself, he then can make good plays. A very intriguing ‘big body’ winger.
