That's fine I don't want him anyway. We need to get an offensive FWD no older than 28 years old

Signing a 33yr old down grading forward for 5-7 years is comedic.

Even 3 years would be a mistake

so who are we gonna get?

your point is only valid if getting nobody is better than overpaying for a guy like VLC

I already conceded that this was merely a flight of fancy and not actually going to happen... no hopes getting up... just making a rhetorical point, that if there is something your team desperately needs, you should be prepared to overpay to get it, unless you are lucky enough to draft it yourself

Poile just said on 104.5 that Vinny has been contacted by the Preds, but he is attached to the East Coast. That's where he wants to be.

That's why Puck Daddy has him at a 4/1 odds to sign in Dallas and 13/1 odds to sign in St Louis. Calgary is in there but a very long shot.

Not sure these teams are in the East...

Nashville just doesn't seem to be on any top players list of places to play.

Housley supposedly visited Ellis today and had a talk with him. I guess we're still trying with him.

Winnipeg's looking to dump Burmistrov. Send Blum and Jeremy Smith to WPG for Burmi. Package Ellis with Spaling and a Conditional 4/5 pick to Boston for Horton and a 6th rounder.

Why in god's name would you send Ellis and Spaling + a pick for the UFA rights to Nathan Horton?

because I looked at the wrong line on nhlscap... I'm an idiot...

I'd throw plenty of cash at Horton and sell him on a team that has a very strong core locked up for quite some time.

I do not want Horton. We would have to overpay to get him. He hasn't been the same player since that hit he took in 2011. Pass...

Yes on Burmi. Dude is young and has the tools to be really good but seems like another KHL target if he becomes unhappy so I doubt Poile would even try.

Another of a million Preds fans dream trades.

He is already threatening KHL with Winnipeg so I would steer clear he apparently has a deal in place with Kazan.

So the Preds ain't on the list. Lists are overrated. I'd throw him an offer anyway.

EDIT: Well after seeing that Poile has already contacted him, maybe not

And is anyone surprised the good thing is they have used both of there buyouts there at 68 mil now. There going to have to shed some more salary to sign Vinny. And if the terms are correct next year they lose two of there D and have Groux to sign, good luck with that.

Even funnier is that Vinny got a full NMC.

The comment about the goalie pads is great.

This is almost assuredly true of every free agent on the market, so if this is a major part of your rationale for not signing a player, prepare to be extremely disappointed next week when we either haven't signed anyone or have overpaid massively on the free agent market.

The best part about this - other than potentially setting the bar really low for the rest of this summer's free agents - is Flyers fans' reactions. They HATE this move because nothing has been done to address their defense.
