Kukkonen

I was wondering how he was doing so far in the preseason games. I've been reading through the threads and have not seen much written. Do you think he is going to make the regular season roster or is he in danger of playing for the wolves?

Thanks!

He played in the only pre season game so far, and did OK.

As far as playing for the Norfolk Admirals (not the Wolves, they are Atlanta's farm team..) there is no chance of that happening - He's got a one way contract.

If he got through waivers, he'd go back to Finland.

Any update on Kukkonen now, after a few preseason games?
Specially, has his play gotten any better on some areas, than on his last visit?

I would be very suprised, if he wouldn't make the big club...

I for one was really impressed by him. He was one of the best players defensively when he played and made some really good break out passes. I have a really good feeling about him.

Kukkonen is what he is, steady and not spectacular.

I like him, he just needs some seasoning.

Yep. Screams decent bottom pairing defenseman. That's not necesarily a bad thing.

After Chicago has now gotten a good start to the season, how has Kukkonen seemed in the D-corps? His game isn't flashy, that I know, but he is very reliable. At least he was while in here...

So how has he done by this time of the season?

I totally agree with that assessment. I never get nervous when he has the puck...always seems to make the right choice and looks very at-home on the PP.

Thats the kind of play i expected from kukkonen, he was the best defenceman in finnish league last year and one of the best in WC's, i was sure he would do just fine in the NHL too.. on his first trip there in 2003-04 he wasnt ready enought and many people here in finland thought he wouldnt become an nhl level defenceman ever... mostly because when you think of him as an individual player you can hardly see any aspect of his game that is so special, not super fast, not the hardest shot, not the biggest size.. But then again, he has it all what it takes. Only thing really special like someone mentioned is that he is superiour calm and solid with the puck, no hazards, great passes, and usually he knows when to shoot it from the
blueline..

I always thought that with 20minutes per game would really show how good he is, and now that chicago has given him a real oppoturnity, i think he will thank you guys for it by playing himself a good and long NHL career..

His numbers look impressive... But as a Kärpät fan I am not at all surprised

He's always jumped off the page for me as one of the smartest players around...

2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points while being +5 in 8 games is respectable. Very respectable.
