I think if he matures and puts it all together consistently, then yes, definitely top pair material. He has all the tools. He could turn out to be the steal of the draft.

At least (from the article) he admits himself that he needs to be more consistent.

The interview where he says that is up on the Flyers website. He said something along the lines of how he needs to work on his consistency cause he can be really good for a couple games then play like crap for a couple. This when in response to the question "what do you need to work on?".

LOL.
We would be lucky if he bacame a Matt Carle.
We suck at picking in the 2nd round.

That said he is the type of defenseman that we should be drafting.
We need more offensive skill in the backend.
I just wish we had picked Morrissey or Pulock instead of Morin.

We should have been targetting a defensive defenseman in the 2nd round,
and an offensive defenseman in the first. LOL.

Holmer drives me nuts with his drafting.

Why are you always *****ing? How about we give these kids a chance before we write them off. Also who knows what our needs will be three years down the road.

I like how some people on here think they know these prospects better than the Flyers scouting team. It's not like they followed them all year and even interviewed them multiple times... Also seen the kid play excellent hockey in the post season up in juniors, but nah since you say he will be another Coburn, I have to believe. Also I get you are entitled to an opinion, but I am entitled to tell you have no clue what you are talking about(made it nice.)

I hope I wrong.
I do not have any problem being wrong.
Its a win/win for me.
If I am wrong then maybe they will win a cup.
I like to see them win another cup before I die.

Between 2008 and 2011 we didn't have a 2nd round pick. Can you really say Homer sucks at drafting during the 2nd round when he's barely ever had a pick

Since 1999 we've only had 6 2nd round picks, and 4 of those came in one draft.

Morin is a Capital Boom or bust player, if he booms there's no denying the possibility of him becoming a player like Chara, it will be a long time project but it's as good of a possibility as anyone in recent memory. But there's also a risk that he completely busts, he progressed a lot from the beginning to the end of last season, if he keeps up with his progression and becomes a gym rat I can't see him not becoming a succesful top 4 at least.

I'd say 25% he never becomes an NHL regular, 15% a 5-6-7 D, 30% he becomes a top 4D mostly defensive minded, 20% he becomes a top pairing 25 minute a night two way Dman and I give him a 10% odds at becoming an elite defender (A la Chara or Pronger). That 10% is still a good enough number for him to be picked at 11.

I had Philly picking him in my mock and I believe it was the best fit for him.

Edit: Damn just noticed I posted this in the Hagg post

Morin for his size, skating, and intelligence might be a better player than Lauridsen already.

Honestly, he's as easy bet to become a bottom pairing SDD. However, we should want and expect at lot more from him than that.

Either way, your 25% that he never becomes an NHL regular is pretty pointless and incorrect.

Geez dude, what do you want/expect? A sure-fire HOFer with every pick?

Just one more recent HOFer would be nice, since they haven't drafted one that they didn't trade away, since 1972 (Bill Barber).
