Boston / islanders

To Boston

Kyle Okposo. 2.8
Thomas Hickey RFA

To NYI

Johnny Boychuk 3.4
Rich Peverley. 3.2

Okposo would look great along side Lucic and Krejci

No, Okposo played like a beast in the playoffs and will hopefully keep it up for next season. And now that we acquired Clutterbuck, there's no room for Peverley in the bottom-6.

I'd be very interested in Boychuk though.

Boston is looking to unload salary. they would rather take back picks/AHL prospects than roster players.

Peverley could be a buyout candidate.

Tempting, but I have no interest in Hickey. Something around Okposo and Boychuk, though, could work for the Bruins. But with all the defensemen the Islanders have in their system, I'm not sure they need another.

Okposo drove the Bailey-Neilsen-Okposo line. They dragged the isles into the playoffs. Not much interest in moving Okposo.

There's always room for a guy like Peverly in the bottom-6. Playoff teams are built on depth; having guys in the bottom-6 who can play in the top-6 when called upon.

Bailey-Nielsen-Okposo
Grabner-Nelson-Clutterbuck
Martin-Cizikas-McDonald

Isles don't need more bottom 6 players. They need a rw for Tavares.

Hmm this is tempting

I really like Boychuck and don't want to see him go, but I became a fan of Okposo watching him in the playoffs.

Manchuk will not be traded. He has been a playoff warrior for a long time, will not trade him for a guy that had a good couple of months.

That said, I like Okposo and hope the kid found his game.

Not when our biggest need is a top-6 RW. Not looking to make Peverley/Clutterbuck the permanent top-6 RW, which would be the case if RP was acquired. Having six quality bottom-6ers right now makes it much less of a priority than the top-6.

Okposo sort of plays a Boston type game, no? I think this might work but I'm not interested in Hickey.

He'd be a great fit to replace Horton if he was available. He's faster than Horton but not nearly as good offensively.

Boychuk was one of the best players in the playoffs this year for the Bruins, trading him would be crazy in my opinion.

Boychuk plays top pairing minutes for one of the best defensive teams in the league and he is a big game player, he always has been.

If the Bruins were to trade Boychuk they would have 3 rookies in their top 6, those rookies have been impressive but none of them has been as impressive as Boychuk was in the playoffs, not even Torey Krug with his 4 great games against the Rangers, not even Dougie Hamilton with all of the points he can put up and not Bartkowski.

Any way you look at it trading Boychuk means a downgrade to the defense and throwing out 3 rookies on your blueline is what rebuilding teams do, they can take chances like that. Boston will be trying to win the Stanley Cup, their defense is the way they want it now, they need to fill a couple of spots or one spot anyway, at forward but taking away from the defense to fill that spot just creates a hole that they don't have anyone to fill it with.

Is Grabner & Hickey better than Okposo & Hickey?? or even just Grabner and a draft pick. Because as a Bruins fan I'd prefer that.

I don't want to move Boychuk, but we need cap space, and I think a team would need a little incentive to take a risk on Peverley bouncing back. I think he will, but it's a gamble.

As do I...and a top line of Moulson-JT-Horton would be a pretty well balanced 4 lines with scoring and grit. i would actually be pretty confident, depending on the goatlending situation, that this team would make the playoffs again.

edit: i totally went off topic with this, i apologize. I got up from the computer at work and forgot the OPs topic when i sat back down. Yall can ignore this post if youd like

Grabner doesnt seem like a boston type player. While his speed is incredible and really not matched as i dont see players get about a breakaway per game aside from him, his finish isnt there yet and his toughness is...well not there at all. Grabner will score 40 eventually as long as he stays healthy, but he will never be good along the boards and he doesnt hit. Hes the anti-Marchand/Lucic/Bergeron in that aspect. But, none of them can catch him.

No, we definitely need a Boychuk. Giving up Okposo to get him would be rough though.

Let me ask you this, do you think it is a bigger risk to trade your #2 defenseman(he plays with Chara) and having at least 3 and probably 4 rookie D on your team or trading Peverley who ended the season as a 4th liner and replacing him with someone like Spooner and having one rookie forward or possibly 2?

I know how I feel about it, there is no replacement for Boychuk while the Bruins have about 4 possible replacements for Peverley.
