05-06 Teemu is #1 easily.

One of the best definitely was when Selänne returned to the Ducks in 2005 and he took like one million bucks to play here and then he scored 90 points.

Best is easily Selanne in 05-06
Worst is easily Fedorov. Thank god Burke was able to rid us of that contract.

I love the guy, but that contract we gave to Giguere turned out to be a pretty bad deal for us.

Fedorov is a good choice. I think Bertuzzi is a good candidate for worst, with the McDonald trade hanging over it.

Bertuzzi's was bad but the term was fine and if Selanne and does end up retiring we likely keep him two years. That whole will I/won't I play thing from Teemu and Nieds put us in a difficult situation. It's definitely up there though.

And yeah as much as I love Jiggy we only got 1 and 1/4 years of value out of that contract. Then his Dad got sick and his game suffered and then next season when he was given a shot to win back the starting role he ran into groin injuries.

Some other candidates for the best contract (although nothing beats Teemu's 05-06 contract IMO) are Beauchemin's current deal, Getzlaf for 5 years @ $5.3M & Hiller for 2 years @ $1.3M.

Who cares if he stayed another year? Bertuzzi's problem wasn't just his cap hit.

If he stays another year we don't end up paying him to not play for us and having the buyout on the books after the deal expires. He was enigmatic and lazy but still produced 2nd line numbers for us. Not worth $4M per year but the overpayment wasn't on a Fedorov or Giguere type level.

And the penalties...players are more than just their numbers.

I predict if Palmieri signs somewhere around a $2m cap hit for 3 years his contract will be good value ahead.

Yeah. In Bertuzzi's case the only thing arguably worse than keeping him was buying him out.

Best 2 contracts. Selanne 05 and the piece of paper that brought Scotty to anaheim.

Actually, i guess best value contract was rob's contract before we got scott.

I can't argue with Teemu 05 being the best. Federov's contract was bad but we did get Beauch in the deal with him so that had to be some added value of that contract. So, I'm going to say Jiggy's turned out to be the worst even if it didn't look that bad at the time.

Beachemin in 2007: 2 years, 1.65 million.

An interesting case could be made for both our top defensive pairs in 2007. While none of the contracts were great value by themselves (except for Beachemin's 500k, but that was prior to being established as an NHL player), as a defense pair they were great value for the minutes and roles played.

It is way to early to say definitively, but Fasth could become a good contract.
