That is quite old. They still think Cornell will be a top pick.

Didn't realize it was from November. I saw it in a thread on the prospects board announcing the article, someone must have bumped the thread.

That's how I feel as well. We've got a LOT of good prospects, but very few who really have elite potential (and those who do all have some question marks in parts of their games). 2014 & 15, if I'm Darcy, I'm focusing on getting just a couple can't-miss type of guys. And then I sit back and wait for Cups.

Be ourselves for Reinhart.

In seriousness, I wish the tank was on for 2015 draft instead. Maybe it still will be.

Oh it will be, no way are these kids gonna be ready to contend a year from now. Assuming Vanek and Miller will be gone I cant see them making the playoffs for atleast three years

I think trading Ehrhoff at the deadline this year will help ensure the tank goes according to plan in 2015. Ehrhoff at the deadline this year for a 2015 first and whatever else.

If I'm Darcy, the goal is either a top prospect already in the game, or just get rid of Vanek, Miller and Ehrhoff for 3 picks in the first round over the next 2 years. If you put the picks off for a year, teams are more likely to deal them. Five first rounders over the next 2 years would give us some room to try and get to the top, if we don't get there by nature.

2015 has McDavid who is the no doubt #1 pick, but they also have Eichel who looked like a player in the U18s as a 16 year old. McDavid is the sure fire #1 guy, but Eichel could very well be a clear cut #2.

A guy to keep an eye on, some have him as the top guy in the WHL. Big center who has game breaking abilities and put up PPG as a rookie in the WHL, hopefully he has a big year. He is going to be one of the oldest players in the draft.

6. Buffalo Sabres: Blake Clarke, LW, Brampton (OHL)

After going heavy on defense in the 2013 draft, the Sabres turn to offense with Clarke, who had 51 points as a 17-year-old.

It seems the top 5 could be heavy in D. Would it be bad to go D again next year?

Zadarov-Risto
Myers-Ekblad
Pysyk-McCabe

Sabres should pick BPA again next year.

If BPA at the Sabres pick is D, then so be it. Just like how Nashville took Jones despite desperately needing forward help. Guys can always be traded later on if need be (like Kassian was for Hodgson).

Nylander has game-breaking qualities that appeal to me greatly at this point. It'll be interesting to see how his year goes. I love Ekblad's game too, but Nylander is someone I'll be keeping an eye on, hoping he continues to develop and that the Sabres are lucky enough to land a talent of his calibre.

If we get Nylander, do we have to tank again in #16 to get his brother?

Brock's Most Impressive 1996 Born Players (OHL):
Quote:
1. Aaron Ekblad - Barrie Colts
A beast, plain and simple. Ekblad was the best defenseman on one of the top teams in the league this year. He's also been fantastic so far in the playoffs, especially since Barrie has been missing captain Ryan O'Connor due to suspension. He took massive steps forward this year as a defensive player. Most of that was due to the fact that he became more physical and much more difficult to play against. Because of his size, reach, physicality, and agility, Ekblad is one of the toughest defenders to beat one on one in the league. Offensively, I felt like his breakout pass and ability to start the rush improved this year, as did his confidence on the point on the powerplay. The sky is the limit for this young man.
Quote:
2. Blake Clarke - Brampton Battalion
I was so impressed with Clarke this year. Big guy, but massive offensive potential. He's got terrific hands and can really carry the puck. Is definitely most dangerous off the rush where his size, skating ability, and skill with the puck make him incredibly difficult to contain. I actually was really impressed with his vision and ability to create for his linemates. Not just a, "put the head down and drive to the net" kind of forward. He uses that size to get close and the playmaking ability to find open teammates. Could be a real total package offensive player. Best of all, as the season went on, Clarke became more confident in throwing the body around and showed signs of becoming a physical player. I hope that continues to grow.
Quote:
3. Sam Bennett - Kingston Frontenacs
Bennett is an incredibly entertaining player to watch. He's one of those high energy guys who always seems to be involved in the play. He's actually got some real pest like qualities to him. He's quite physical and is very involved on the forecheck and in the corners. He and Henri Ikonen did great to work the cycle this year. He may not be big, but Bennett is very slippery and OHL defenseman had a tough time containing him on most nights. I also really liked the way Bennett created offense off the rush. He's got really underrated skill with the puck and made many a defenseman whiff this season. With added strength this offseason, I can't wait to see him play next year (and I hope he sticks with the Under 18 team currently).

I like Goldobin a lot. Not sure where he projects this early in the process, but he definitely has top 10 speed/talent.

Kinda reminds me of Yakupov alittle bit. He has game breaking abilities that is forsure, he also doe not shy away from physical play. He is a key guy to keep an eye on.

I really like the OHL class for 2014, alot of real good players to keep an eye on: McKeown,Clarke,Watson,Dal Colle,Ritchie,Bennet and Ekblad seem like top 15 guys, Draisatl and Reinhart are the top WHL guys, not much on the OMJHL front, I'm not really a fan of Barbashev.

Bennett not on the list. Are you kidding me?
Where's Watson?

Geez.
