So I guess it means Burns is still a forward.

And couldn't DW wait to see Hertl at the scrimmage first???

So when injuries happen, instead of Gali filling in the top 6, we get Desi, Sheppard, Wingels filling in. So much for improving our forward depth and scoring DW.

It's fine, he's the definition of a someone that can be replaced pretty easy.

Of course, makes the McGinn trade look even worse, but you can't keep a guy a pray he becomes something he isn't.

I'd rather see Hamilton or Tarasov or another prospect get a shot on the 4th line.

So who's gonna play on the top line? Kennedy?

Tomas Hertl and Tyler Kennedy also make this move possible -- and probably signal that #SJSharks want to start season with Burns at forward.

dear god, no. although when Crosby came back from his concussion the second time he played on a line of Cooke-Crosby-Kennedy. he was at like 2PPG for a handful of games.

#SJSharks seem to be basically acknowledging Galiardi awkward fit - didn't work out on 3rd, 4th line. Not long-term answer on top 2.

They must have a plan for Jumbo's LW. None of Wingels or Torres or Kennedy is an upgrade on Galiardi in a scoring role, although all three are overall better players. And Hertl seems like a weird fit on that line.
I could see them trying Kennedy with Thornton and Hertl as the playmaker for Marleau and Couture. I can't imagine Pavelski being too thrilled with Torres and Wingels as line-mates though.

I'm confused over DW's vision of the roster next year.

Who does he see as our 2LW?

Marleau - Couture - ?
? - Thornton - Burns
Torres - Pavelski - Kennedy
Shep - Desi - Burish

Wingels, Hertl and Havlat are weird fits right now. Unless he is thinking.

Marleau - Couture - Pavelski
Torres - Thornton - Burns
Wingels - Hertl - Kennedy
Shep - Desi - Burish

Maybe swap Hertl and Pavelski? Seems clunky.

They are ALL upgrades to TJ in a scoring role. The last 3 years, he has 7, 8 and 5 goals. He didn't do a damn thing on JT's line.

Considering our desperate need for forward depth, this is a horrendous trade. I think he just needed a little more time then he would have flourished here. He didn't light it up, and could not capitalize on how many chances, but really was he that bad? Yes we need the cap space, but if it came down to arbitration he would not have gotten that much anyway. I was excited after the TK trade thinking we might actually have some decent forward depth. TK over Galiardi is an upgrade, but what make it a good trade is that we didn't have to give anyone away so it improved our overall depth. Now we lost a roster player without getting one in return. This is just another instance of DW making a good move followed by a bad move. We better sign a bottom 6 winger on Friday/Saturday or else I WILL GO APE!

tldr; Liked the TK trade because we need forward depth, dislike this trade because we need forward depth

Should've traded Galiardi for a 7th then.

We still need another forward though. I don't get this. Pavelski will be pissed.

SO many people here clamoring for Hertl to sign and come here. DW does exactly that. Galiardi is a guilty pleasure of mine but I understand the move. Is he the only player to take the Sharks to arbitration?? Did that set him on the track out?? He did finally get it together but honestly pissed away the whole season.
DW obviously wanted someone more proven, that's why he picked up Kennedy.
That was the writing on the door. I would have liked a 3rd but as bad as Calgary is, it's going to be a virtual 3rd.

So long TJ. I wish it had come together here.

To be honest, I don't really care about Galiardi. Even though the line with him and Burns on Thornton's wings was good, at times dominating, Galiardi was not able to produce points. On that line, I'd like to see at least .5 PPG.

There are better options. No reason to hurt the team with someone just to desperately try to even up a trade.

Did it ever occur to anyone that hes asking for more than the Sharks are willing to give? Nope all DW's fault.
