Blue Jackets 2013-14 Development Camp

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 5m

ICYMI: #CBJ development camp is July 8-11 (skaters/goalies), plus July 12-13 for just goalies. Free, open to the public, and chilly. #ahhhhh

Can't wait for the roster to be released.

Only one undrafted invite? Interesting.

Been going for years. This is the most promising crop I can remember. Maybe the brassard, voracek, filatov camp rivaled this, but I doubt it.

Is that the best roster we have ever had for development camp? I think it might be.

Obviously most of the interest on the forwards is coming from this years draft. We'll find out next week if they are worth the hype. With this draft I think we went from one of the weakest prospect pools to approaching the top 10.

One thing we can safely say, we added a lot of forward depth with skill to compliment some of the role playing forwards.

We are getting close to do or die for guys like Larkin and Madaisky. I want to see if a guy like Tynan is developing and if he's adding any muscle.

I'm predicting that we're going to see some players really open some eyes next week.

I just think we have more depth at each position.

I'd be surprised if they didn't add at least one or two more players before the time camp starts.

Yeah. I think the distinction is that we added a lot of skill at forward in this draft. Now that skill is had the dreaded "two-way" attached to it in most cases (anytime you see two-way, people start to think 3rd line). But we added plenty of potential top six talent.

You mean Langlois? Is he just signed to a Springfield contract?

Looking a little forward heavy for all you 'draft forwards only' types out there.

Talent throughout ... the forwards are skilled and gritty, but the defense is talented with a good mix. And, without a doubt, the goaltending crop is the best this franchise has ever had. In fact, it may be the best in the league right now.

Oh, I agree, I was just poking fun. Looking forward to heading down to the Ice Haus next week.

Well, that is until they find someone to cover the Jackets, that actually covers the Jackets.

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1h

#CBJ D Ryan Murray will take part in development camp beginning Tuesday, his first full-contact hockey since dislocating his shoulder in Nov

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1h

Murray: "I absolutely can't wait to get out there. Can't wait. It's been so long, and the drills and shooting and skating by yourself get ..

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1h

"... so boring. To be back on the ice, with other guys, playing at full speed and full contact ... this is what it's all about. Can't wait."

I'll be there Tuesday

I'm very impressed with the defensive depth and skill set especially with the addition of Heatherington. With what's on the big club and what we'll see at Development Camp it's possible to see a long list of CBJ defensive players that are spoken about more positively than negatively for the foreseeable future. I realize these guys need to develop but based on skill sets....

Murray - Erixon
Reilly - Heatherington
Prout - Curcuruto

Could all be in the mix and all have top 4 or higher potential. Couple that with JJ still being young and a good core on the big club already and they have time to develop.

Very exciting.

What #CBJ prospect are you most looking forward to seeing? Give me 1 2013 pick and 1 non 13 pick. Just curious

Dano and Dansk.

Apparently my interest involves as few different letters as possible.

Rychel and Jenner.

I'm watching to see if Rychel can play a 200 ft game, and backcheck, and I'm watching Jenner to see if he can keep up when everyone else is going full speed. I remember Jenner being behind the pace last year. It wasn't until the rest of camp got tired and slowed down and then he was hitting everyone.
