Read his tweet again. He NEVER once said that.

It's true he didn't say Montreal is out, but come on. Are people seriously holding their breath for Sundin ?

Err... I mean Lecavalier.

In one word, yes, the staff at RDS is the main reason why we can't land elite players. In most sports players dream of playing home, but it's a different thing for our local players and to be honest I don't blame them.
you should include in the forefront, the JDM and Quebecor, future official newspaper of the all French speaking Nordics.

RDS at least has a few lightbulbs, can't say the same about the JDM

Looking forward to the upcoming Stars dynasty but I won't hold my breath. Whitney, Jagr, Cole, Gonchar... seems like the Stars are likelier to collectively sign up for AARP than try to win hockey games.

Hey, if Dallas gets Lecavalier then it's pretty clear that he'd rather retire than try to win by joining a legitimate franchise.

The Dallas Residence Soleil should be their new name

Boston cant afford him, look at their cap situation and John Shannon reported the Wings are out. If he pick Dallas over the Habs, then VInny is chicken****. He better not come out and say Dallas gives hima better chance at winning. Be upfront and say, i cant handle pressure

Dallas would make no sense at all.....not convinced that VL can take the heat of a hockey market like Montreal...

I think you misunderstood his tweet. He said IF the Habs are out, Boston, Dallas, and Detroit are his top options.

He specifically said if he doesn't choose Montreal, those are his front runners. Seems to indicate he thinks the Habs are the front runners.

Which directly implies, as he's stated before, that Vinny's decision starts with whether or not to choose Montreal.

Yea if we don't get Vinny then Iginla would be my next choice. Plus he'll only want a 1 or 2 year contract which gives us more cap flexibility plus the possibility of trading him at the deadline for assets.

I feel a major choke job is coming.

The timing is good, he won't be the center of attention with Subban around, but Vinny is too much of a scared little creature to play here.

Prove me wrong Vinny. Prove me wrong.

To be fair though, no matter what he says some fans are going to trash him. So I don't think it matters. In the end, he will sign where he wants to. I wouldn't want to sign here in this situation. It's like an unhealthy relationship. "We love you Vinny, we want you. But if you don't sign with us you are dead to us."

I don't think his attempt at banter went quite as well as he figured it would. Just like Sens, Boston and Leafs fans and their sorry attempts over the years.

i get the feeling reading Lebrun's tweets that MTL is Vinny's first choice, however MB's offer is lower than the others that's why we keep hearing that Dallas is the front runner but nothing is signed yet hoping that MTL uppers their offer...

just my gut feeling

I've got the same feeling, like Dallas is in the position Montreal is used to being - being used to drive up the price.

But you realize, if he signs with dallas his excuse will be that the stars give him a better chance at a cup. Briere said it when he signed with Philly, at least that was true. But Dallas is horse**** and the Habs are a good young up and coming team. Cant wait to hear his reasoning

The end is easy to predict : He will sign elsewhere and be boo'ed when he will play in Montreal until he retires. Would make sense for him to chose Dallas, won't play often in Montreal!

Bergevin needs to go to a 4th year to get this done, if that's what it will take. This better not happen because they're a year apart on term.
