Terrible trade. Honestly except for Pacioretty's extension I haven't liked any of Bergevin's moves so far.

Why the hell would we give up a guaranteed top 6 winger for an undersized midget with little to no NHL upside?

Christian Thomas is also the son of ex-NHLer Steve Thomas... Lets just say if he can play similar to his father, I can live with that trade. Kristo didn't seem going anywhere in this organization.

Thomas is younger and already has one more pro season under his belt than Kristo. Thomas was pretty highly touted in his draft year, pure scorer.

Likewise.

If both teams don't like the trade, I guess it can't be too bad.

In terms off assets, we got younger asset that looks to be at same level: about to play nhl hockey. Now it all depends who will turn out better, dont know this thomas guy so ill reserve my judgment. Until montreal comes in and posts something to make some sense into this. Argh, would hate nyr to steal anothet impact player to be (McDonough)

Something had to be up.

Maybe Character issues or conflict of interest?

They just recently signed him and deal him before try seen him play in the AHL or even the NHL. Something must of recently happened to switch just prospects like that.

Kristo seemed more like a prospect you add to get a bigger piece for the big club.

Judging by the reactions here, I'm going assume that no one here has watched Thomas play. Just looked as his size and decided that NYR won because Kristo has two inches on him.
Thanks for that. I haven't watched either player play, so I have no idea who won or lost.

Accomplished OHLer over a decent college player any day of the week.

HF ratings:
Christian Thomas - 7.0C
Danny Kristo - 7.5C

Both project elsewhere with 2nd line upside.

Everyone panic!

To be fair, 7'9" would be a pretty big player

Kristo is kinda one too.

I'm more pissed they didn't even wait and see how he's going to do in a full season.

Kristo does have a questionable rep, though. The partying, frost bite because of stupidity.

We traded from an area of strength to further fill that area of strength ?

This makes no sense to me.

Though, in 2 days (or less) I'll probably warm up to it.

BUT RIGHT NOW IT'S OVERREACTION TIME

Thomas isn't scraps. He's a legitimate prospect with 30 goal upside. Pure definition of a sniper.

No, its that we have waited 6 years to see Kristo. Watched him develop and now we trade him for an undersized player. I have no problem with undersized players but isnt enough enough?

We CANT ice a team like this, we will get beaten to a pulp. I think the appropriate word here is ****.

Maybe this Thomas guy will be decent, I will be rooting for him

A start to the s***y saga that will be the offseason for the habs.
Once again, was the barely 5'11" Kristo going to keep you from crying that this team is undersized?

Exactly.

I have no opinion on this trade since I don't know how good either guy is... but I'm pretty happy both sides are pissed.

Everyone wins.. or loses.
