Would've preferred to send Kristo+ for Perron but I wasn't ever sold on the nutjob, alarmingly unprofessional and it seems like the Habs brass feels similarly.

We CANT ice a team like this, we will get beaten to a pulp. I think the appropriate word here is ****.

A start to the s***y saga that will be the offseason for the habs.
I wouldn't say Kristo is a big guy either, so I'm not incensed we dealt him for a smaller player. What angers me is exactly what you pointed out in bold - why wait on him so long in college and then we trade him away once he turns pro?

Maybe Glenn Sather convinced MB that the habs still owed him one for doing us such a big favour in that Gomez-McDonogh swap...

I bet in 2 years Kristo is a 30 goal scorer in NY. I can feel it!

I just hope Thomas does well in Hamilton so we can all feel better about this trade.

guaranteed? The guy hasn't played a single minute in the NHL. Slow your roll.

Some folks are obsessed with height measurements. Thomas is a lot thicker and stronger than Kristo...also has more hockey sense, and a great shot. A big upgrade in the character department, and son of a former NHLer who believes in wearing shoes in the winter.

Kristo would have been a UFA in what...two or three years? Never seemed that crazy about playing in Montreal.

I never heard of Thomas, so i'm assuming he's a terrible player and he's never gonna make it to the NHL and we got screwed

I know that for a fact because I post stuff on the internet without looking up first!

Here's the thing Grant, you can't keep trading better players for character. And I'm gonna disagree with you. Having seen Thomas in Oshawa, vaguely followed his progression and Kristo the past handful of years, Kristo will be a good player for a while and showed better hockey sense than Thomas.

Totally this.

Kristo is a sociopath. Not exaggerating either.

Most of this board considered Kristo a midget.
Yes but the guy has speed and a wicked shot. I prefer having a top 6 player that is a midget over a bottom 6 player midget.

I honestly just wish they would stop trading with the Rangers.

Kristo does have a questionable rep, though. The partying, frost bite because of stupidity.

We traded from an area of strength to further fill that area of strength ?

This makes no sense to me.

Though, in 2 days (or less) I'll probably warm up to it.

BUT RIGHT NOW IT'S OVERREACTION TIME
I'm actually completely confused, if anything I was hoping Thomas was an LW because it seems all the "smurfs" we are drafting are RWs except for Ghetto blaster.

That being said we essentially traded a potential 2nd line playmaker for a potential 2nd line sniper.

I'm okay with trading away Kristo but again... why another midget? I'm fine with giving up the asset, I just don't understand why we get another small forward... even if they are at the same talent level I don't get this move.

WTF?

You know how you can't judge a book by its cover? Some of you should do the same with a hockey player's ability and his size...

hahaha @ everyone hating on the trade!! you guys clearly don't know who Christian Thomas is!!! I'm so amped for this deal, another sick young prospect to add to the core! He is the son of Steve Thomas and played his only NHL game this year vs the Habs in Mtl, he is a PURE sniper and if you guys think Ryder could shoot, wait for this kid, he can actually skate and pass too! lol

He is one of the players they refused to give up for Rick Nash at the trade deadline a couple of years ago and why the deal happened in the summer. Also was the last cut for team Canada WJ couple years back.

Thomas is 2 years younger and put up great numbers in ohl. If anything they have the same upside

Actually both project to being depth scoring midgets. Really the only thing that confuses me is we traded a prospect we have a surplus of for a prospect we have a surplus of.
