Mods, if you can add Cornet, that would be good please.

It's funny because multiple media members said the Oilers would keep Peckham. Good moves.

Of all three of those guys, Teubert is the most disappointing. He went from being one of the best dmen on the Monarchs to a guy who couldn't even play in the AHL.

Wonder if any of these guys get a 2 way contract from some NHL teams.

Did anyone here actually think Plante and Teubert would be qualified?

Interesting that they qualified Hovinen and Tyrvainen.

Needed to make room for other upcoming D men in any case. I had more hope for Peckham than the other two over the last few years, he just never got better and actually back slid.

I'm surprised they didn't keep Cornet around.

Like Harti, they are signed in Europe and aren't going to sign the QO. It allows the Oilers to retain their NHL rights without costing anything.

Such a disappointing draft pick Plante was. Was there anyone else we could have taken at that pick?

I know that. It's interesting because it indicates they believe each of them could still have a future in the organization.

^This. It's not like we have a deep forward group. Especially with a bunch of our guys headed to Europe/KHL next season. I don't get it.

What about Omark...do we still own his rights?

I remember a lot of people wanted Cherepanov at #15, who was looking like a good player before his tragic passing.

There were a few other notable players picked later in the 1st round including Max Pacioretty,Mikael Backlund, David Peron, and Brendan Smith.

There were a lot of bad picks in that draft.

Three obvious decisions.

I assume because Peck is around E-Town year round he's become well known & well liked by people in the media there and they would die on that sword saying he is a player who the team should be qualifying...but...perspective here...he can't play in the NHL. Not one lick more than the other two.

Any of the three could get picked up I suppose...but...its not a good comment on where your team is/what you've been drafting if you can honestly say you need to have ANY of these guys on your roster right meow.

Cherepanov was the guy most of us wanted. Angelo Esposito also dropped.

Max Pacioretty would've been the only reasonable gamble at that draft location.

The rest who actually made it to the NHL would have been considered a pretty significant off-the-board-reach at the time.

What a brutal 1st round pick Alex Plante was. Right when he was selected you just knew he was going to bust. I remember most Oilers fans wanted Cherapanov at 15 or Pacioretty and we passed on him twice.

I wanted Voracek at 6, Cherepanov at 15 that year.

Wanted Nick Petrecki at 21

I'm surprised we let Cornet walk. Maybe trying to get him on an AHL only deal?

Those were the exact same picks I wanted.

At the end of the day, drafting Nash and trading him for Marincin was better then what most teams did in that draft.
