Let me introduce you to the concept of asset management.
It is always optimal to trade an asset for another asset that you consider to be of greater value. It is THAT simple folks so kindly remove your collective thumbs from your mouths and return it to your thumb holster.
So an asset who was an NCAA scoring machine, played on the USA national team needs to get traded before he even gets a chance to adjust to the pro game?
let me introduce you to the word called : p a t i e n c e.
Nothing to do with this trade, but I'm getting a little tired of "character"...
What? What do you think it takes to win a cup? A team of great players who don't care when it's important?
Bergevin knows it. The habs didn't do **** in 20 years, deceptions over deceptions. FINALLY someone realises what it takes to win a cup.
And you guys (not you in particular, Andy) probably have never seen Thomas nor Kristo play. Seeing what almost everyone here writes is absurd.
Hey...we don't know if Kristo will turn out better than Thomas or visa versa.... Most of the frustration is on the timing after waiting 4 years for Kristo and also the size only because two days ago we just drafted size.
I personally think, it's an even trade. In the end, maybe Kristo has little bit more upside, but still.. I believe that most of us are overrating him. Anyway, with all the problems he had off the ice and the reputation of selfish player he had, I am not really a Kristo believer anymore.
I find Thomas a little bit to small, but I believe he has a shot to make the NHL. He has the most amount of goals/points 3 consecutive years in his OHL team's. He also has interesting number in his first year as a AHLer, he had more goals/points than any player of our AHL team. I know that the statistic don't tell everything, but from what I am seeing those numbers are good enough to make it one day to the NHL.
When I first joined this site (before the new millennium) most of the posters were hardcore hockey fans. They had to be to find a prospect site prior to effective search engines. There were still mindless posts from many people but it is so out of hand today as the boards are filled with completely unknowledgeable fans who just run their mouths without any knowledge of the game or players involved in it.
I would venture to say that less than 5% have anything of value to add to a thread.
Part of the text and Twitter generation. Need to express themselves but with really nothing to say.
I am confident Bergevin will explain himself on this move, in the meantime we just got a young player with NHL potential to talk about.
Well, was really high on kristo, and the initial reaction TO the trade right off the bat is NOOOO BLARGH
but, this thomas kid does seem interresting, ..love that he has a AHL year under his belt already and not bad numbers for a 20 year old
kid looks like he can score, ..and personaly i dont give a flying **** how big he is, ..i never admited it out loud but i always thought kristo was a SHRIMP out there and thought hed get mauled at the pro level, and i never liked what i heard about everything off ice, i always FORCED myself to love him, a youtube video of 5 mins of nothing but his highlights and goals can turn anyone into crosby
welcome to the habs CHristian, maybe a bit smaller than kristo supposedly but im sick of people acting like 5"9 will never get you into the NHL, and he sure as hell wont be playing for the habs WITH our 5"7ers, i suspect a couple will be gone by then.
...if you wanted to ship out Kristo, why wouldn't you put him in a package deal and get some actual bang for your buck. Disappointed in this trade. Not because i was really keen on Kristo, but because i feel like we could have managed that asset better.
