I don't like how you root for this franchise to succeed

I like this trade.Thomas will look good in Montreal, but I doubt he'd ever look okay in ny. it's a pretty even trade, but maybe he'll syncup with stepan and krier

Was gonna say exactly this. Could be our 2nd line left wing solution in the future. Could be that 4th line energy guy/3rd liner this year. I'm ok with that.

Amazing trade for Habs.

Marc Bergevin is awesome and I approve this trade!

What a steal by Habs.

Christian Thomas has a potential to be a dominant sniper in the NHL.

Thomas was never going to make it with this team, since he's got a top 6 skillset but not top 6 ability. Kristo can fit into a 3rd line role. He'll start with Hartford but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him play at least a game or two with the Rangers this season.

This is a steal win Sather

After draft week, and these depth trades, I think we h e a temporary motto until free agency starts.

"HFNYR where every draft pick is a project and every prospect is an experiment."

I remembering watching Kristo on the WJC and on televised ND Games. Each time I thought, "Rangers need to get this kid"! Watching him on ND, he carried his team, hands down best player! Kristo works as hard as hell, could see him being a Callahan type player.

I really liked Thomas as a prospect early on, though much like Bourque, as he matured, I was less and less confident that he'd make it to the NHL.

This could be a total steal!!!

So we got a guy who's 1 inch taller and 20 lbs heavier, but is also 2 years older. Danny is the all around better player, but Christian has the better shot. Danny may also be a headcase. lol

Thomas is small. Not very quick. He has the great shot. One dimensional.

You need to have players who can skate. Two way players. Hard working skill guys. The days of having a fourth line just to give the other forwards a rest are long gone. Like the Hawks where all 12 forwards can skate and play.

Kristo is a right-handed shot like Thomas. AV likes the righty shots on the PP.

Ha! I immediately thought of you when I saw this went through. You were all over Kristo during the 2010 WJC.

I saw at that point a very skilled kid who needed to learn how to pay a team game. I haven't followed his progress at all at NoDak so I'm hoping he's rounded out a bit.

Loved the Thomas pick, have been slightly disappointed in his development, and an sad to see him go.

Sounds like a good deal. Hopefully Kristo's rambunctiousness and misdemeanoring are behind him.

The last time Sather made a prospect for prospect deal, it worked out pretty well (Werek for Lindberg).

Thomas was never going to get a shot here, not with Zucc, Kredier, and even Miller all ahead of him. No way was he going to take a roster spot from one of them. Maybe he turns into a Nigel Dawes or maybe a PA Parenteau... time will tell. From what it sounds like Kristo could be a kid who gets called up if needed and gets a chance, but offers more than a shot. We made out very well last time we traded with Montreal, hope lightning strikes twice.

Habs fan here -

You guys should all have a smile on your faces when you see that your team just made a trade with the Montreal Canadiens. You all know why too. So when in doubt, remember the past, and smile on.

I was never a fan of Thomas. {I wanted Tyler Toffoli in that spot.}

Me too. The same people that complain about our lack of depth on the 3rd and 4th lines are the one's complaining in this thread. I think some people just want to complain for no reason.

Kristo will be a Ranger at some point next season and if he plays like he did at North Dakota he will be a fan favorite.

Christan Thomas will be a great AHL player next season. I like Thomas and he might be a good NHL player someday but it won't be next year. Kristo has the potential to play on the 3rd line. Callahan and Hagelin are going to miss the first 4 weeks. A guy like Kristo might be playing on the 3rd or 4th line to start the season. Would Thomas be playing in that role?

Good trade for the Rangers.

I don't know much about other teams prospects, but I'll assume this is a win for us judging by the Habs board losing their minds.
