If you mix in a consensus projection of 'has offensive skill to be a 50 point guy if he makes it' he's basically a stud that Habs fans will want to keep forever.

I'm off to research his shooting rate. Players who get pucks on net a lot tend to be good at producing points even if they don't have the highest skill level.
If he can be constant 50-55 point guy then with all toughs qualities sign him forever.

Guess I'll go back to the avatar I had a couple of months ago, seems pretty fitting now.

For now the kid looks like a meaner, more defensively responsible Max Pacioretty, and I'll take that over 1-dimernsional Zykov any day of the week on a 2nd or 3rd line. He was outmuscling players at 17 years old, can't imagine what he will look like for Sweden in 2 years.

Gotta love his comment about Jagr's sick flow.

I'm pretty happy that after all the years of only drafting Russian, Canadian and American players they are finally dipping into Scandinavia and it's about time.

The gold mine some teams have pulled from that part of the world is astounding and I'd love Montreal to reap some rewards.

Sweden produces so many good hockey players. All of them are hard working two way players. Some with more offense and some with less. Its pretty rare you see a Swedish player outright bust because of attitude. I like our drafting of Swedish players. Tremendous skill and work ethic.

It's funny, I was perhaps the biggest DLR supporter on this board, and was hoping we'd get him at 34 or 36...

That said, I thought we'd be getting a top 6 forward in round 1. with McCarron taken at 25, I would have much preferred gambling on Zykov at 34....

Jacob de la Rose - Lars Eller - Sebastian Collberg.

Jacob de la Rose play like Gabriel Landeskog, but less offense potential.

Great pick by Habs!

Not sure what you mean by that, McCarron has the potential to be a top 6 forward.

I think at worst he could become a Jason Chimera type of guy. Extremely useful on the forecheck, fast, hard to play against. We always need a couple forwards like that for a long playoffs run, it drives the defense crazy.

He's bigger than Cally but less offensively gifted. Callahand was dynamic offensively in junior.

He'd be a top 6 forward the way Bickell plays in Chicagos top 6. I meant a skilled offensive type, McCarron will be a spacemaker if he ever does play top 6. DLR is the same way.

Excllent compete level. Good skater.

Think solid 3rd liner, outside shot at 2nd but I dont see the offensive instinct in the other zone. He has the defensive instinct in his own.

I'm a fan of both, comparing de la Rose to Eller is just rude towards Lars.
