Buffalo would obviously have to retain some of his salary but it's more than do-able

Philly should go after Miller. You guys can always give us Oilers Schenn, Coots, Laughton, and Coburn!

I doubt Buffalo does that they're trying to get rid of salary.

I always kind of laughed at the proposals from Edmonton fans looking for a very good piece but each one would include "None of the Young 5 are available", but this thread has been great. I think both sides understand exactly where the other is coming from and it's been a pleasure to read.

Add on top a couple of you guys mentioning how you'd do Mez for a low draft pick if the Flyers needed it when everybody else thinks we don't deserve any help and it's even better.

It's really been a pleasure.

The issue with Philly is that they're trying to get rid of salaries. Edmonton's Fab5 carries a cap hit the Flyers can't absorb.

Hall 6.0
Eberle 6.0
RNH 3.78
Yakupov 3.78
J. Schultz 3.78

RNH and J. Schultz are up for raises next summer. Yakupov the summer after. Again Philly can't afford.

Their fans have suggested it over and over in the various Ryan Miller threads. They're rebuilding more then they are shedding salary - they've got a wealthy owner.

Eberle makes 1.5 million more than Coburn. Im sure if Homer needed he could make it work. Also if there was any deal like that, he better make it work lol

Please do.

He's a really likable guy who's had terrible luck with injuries, and it would be great if he could get healthy on a Western team. I can't see him ever doing that in Philly.

Sorry if my post wasn't clear, I wasn't implying anything about a deal involving any of those guys to Philadelphia. I was just saying that this thread makes me appreciate Edmonton fans a lot more than I used to.

Then hand us Coots or Schenn.

The Oilers are one of the few team that can get the Flyers out of cap hell. I'll take Mez, Coburn, Coots, Schenn for a huge package. Let's shock the league just right before FA frenzy starts. Shall we? We can also swap goalies.

Umm, have you missed everything in the media the past 2 weeks where the Sabres have said they are willing to retain some Millers and Vaneks salary in a trade and that they can take other teams salary dumps??? They are looking to add assets for their rebuild and the owner has said publically that eating salary isn't a problem.

Try again though. Maybe you should do a little fact checking before posting, it's really not that hard to have turned up this info but either way, you have it now. If you doubt me then please, make a post on the Sabres board and ask their fans if retaining salary or taking back a bad contract is something their owner said he would or wouldn't do in order to add assets for the rebuild okay???

If the price for Coburn is too rich, I wouldn't mind tossing a 3rd for Meszaros+5th or something

I get that he's had a rough couple of years, but I'd call him an Iron man for most of his career... 82,82, 81, and 81 game seasons... if Coburn doesn't work out, I'd love it if the Oilers brought him in for a stop-gap while some of the Oilers d-men cut their teeth.

If he can stay healthy he's a very good 2nd pairing dman and well worth his cap hit. For a team that needs a physical 2nd pairing dman he's probably well worth the risk.

I just made a thread I think its being closed.

Anyway, Coburn and a 3rd for Petry and the rights to MPS?

Biggest issue is we have tons of LH shot defensemen coming up right now and currently have only 2 RH defensemen (Schultz and Petry) and none in the pipeline.

We would need to either have a plan in place to bring in another RH defensemen or else the trade won't work.

Our top 5 defense prospects are Klefbom, Nurse, Marincin, Musil and Gernat, ALL of which are LH shots.
