OT: Looking for a good place to eat in MTL

I'm going to the game tomorrow and I was wondering where would be a good place to eat near the Bell Centre, preferably somewhere i can get a good smoke meat. I remember a while back there was a thread with ppl's favorite restos but I can't find it

Dunn's is like 5 minutes walk from the Bell Centre. Great smoked meat. We go there every time we go to a game.

It's on Metcalfe (near Paramount).

Ben's is the best now in the city imo (tho, sadly, not for long...I think they're closing pretty soon). Used to be Schwartz's, but it's not the same there imo.

Agree... Dunns and Bens beat Schwartz now. And Schwartz is not walking distance from the Bell center.

Stay away from La Cage unless you eat the wings, and only the wings

Yup, Schwartz has the best smoked meat in town.

Dunn's and Ben's are fine, but I don't see how they're better than Schwartz (other than the fact that they're closer to the Bell Centre)

I'd go to Bar-B-Barn since it's a 5 min walk from the Bell Center

This is not a place for smoked meat, but has anyone tried Le Milsa? I went there once and it was absolutely awesome.

Personaly I think Schwartz's meat is a bit on the dry side.

you get 1$ tacos (beef, chicken, chili or veggie) and 1$ draft beers at Carlos and Pepe's on Monday!

Not the best food quality, but if you're starving and what to drink a few before (or after) the game, it's a good place.

The first floor is more of a restaurant, the second floor is more of a pub...

It's on Peel... just north of Ste-Catherine... so a pretty short walk from the Bell Centre.

Correction, he's asking for a tip,
not a place to die from disgusting food...

I suggest La Rotisserie Italienne,
in front of Toyota Président on Ste-Catherine Street...

Weird name, but best quality/price in town... and I went to LOTS of places

While not known for smoked meat, I'd definitely stop by La Belle Province on Peel and load up on steamies and poutine before any game. Mmmm... steamies and poutine... I miss home.

Ben's employees are on strike and I don't think it's been open for a while so don't bother. Personally I find Ben's smoke meat alright but their fries are a joke.

I do have to say I'm on the Schwartz side for the smoked meat. Just order regular or medium and stay away from lean. What's the point of lean smoked meat anyways? The Main across the street from Schwartz is #2 in my book. I guess to each his own. But as others said that's too far from the Bell Center.

Close to the Bell Center is also Reuben's for smoked meat or other things. On St. Cat at Peel.

Oh, and there's also Baton Rouge if you want Ribs. On De La Montagne right next to the Bell Center. You may want to reserve or get there around 4pm if you want a place as it's super busy on game days.

Reuben's is also very good, but it could get pricey. I love their new restaurant, because it's got a great bar.
