I wonder what the hold-up is with the goaltenders? Trying to get Eric Comrie into the fold?

I'd imagine they're holding a goalie camp again before naming those invites.

after looking at the invites I will base my team off of that and not much changes from the one I made a few weeks back.

Kerdiles - Nieves - Cammarata -- ALL NCAA line (our most skilled line bar none)
Samuelsson - Lodge - Erne -- all CHL line..WHL/OHL/Q
Barber - Compher - Hartman -- (sick USNDP alum line!)
Matteau - Vail - McCarron -- pure crunch line (nobody will want to play against them)
Motte -- this years version of Riley Barber...book it!

Sieloff - DeAngelo - shutdown and offense together
McCoshen - Carrick - see above
Pesce - Santini - shut down opposing teams top lines!
Skjei -- pure wildcard..

Gillies
Stolarz
Demko

this group isn't high end by any means, but it certainly will throw three lines at you at above average skill. They can easily roll all four lines and will be monsters to play against as they will have plenty of size, grit, and beef. Samuelsson on my 2nd line is a risk as his foot speed still scares me, but his leadership and ability to produce lands him there.

Camarrata has to have a Gaudreau start to the season as he is our likely most dynamic player with Kelleher not getting invited.. this kid needs to be electric coming out the gate.

Barber - Compher - Hartman is my favorite line as all three ex USNDP members can bring the speed, grit, and scoring...that perfect line that wreaks havoc on everyone.

Tyler Motte is this years version of Riley Barber. Some players just get lost in the mix at the USNDP as Barber did 2 years ago. I felt Barber was a first round pick and he has proven that to be a solid argument as his skillset was a flat out steal in the 6th round. I see so many similarities between Barber and Motte. Motte hopefully has a strong start to his freshman campaign as Barber did last year, but if he does he will be a big part of this team as Tyler has always had first round skill..

That 4th line just speaks of pain!! Ouch.

Our defense is our strength again as it is very very deep. It has all aspects covered from shut down dmen to offensively skilled guys. DeAngelo will be the most important and dynamic man on that blue line. He is going to be the guy that gets the puck up the zone and works the point on the power play. Him and Carrick are our two best offensive weapons from the blue line and both are locks imo, especially Carrick and his USNDP roots.

McCoshen and Santini will be hell to play against as they both have that size and skill that will shut down the opposition. And don't forget about McCoshen and his underrated offensive ability as well, kid can bring it!

Pure wild card players to make this team - Defense - Nick Ebert Offense - Jake Guentzel

My early, early guess on the team based only on the camp roster plus Hartman who is only missing due to injury:

Forwards (x13):

Nic Kerdiles - J.T. Compher - Riley Barber
Taylor Cammarata - Jimmy Lodge - Adam Erne
Cristoval Nieves - Dan O'Regan - Ryan Hartman
Stefan Matteau - Matt Lane - Henrik Samuelsson
Michael McCarron

Defense (x7):

Matt Grzelcyk - Steven Santini
Ian McCoshen - Connor Carrick
Patrick Sieloff - Dylan Blujus
Anthony DeAngelo

Goalies (x3):

Jon Gillies
Anthony Stolarz
Thatcher Demko

Notes:

- With so few "locks", a really tough roster to predict due to the domino effect so-to-speak. What happens with each spot will determine the way the chips fall for everyone else.

- I have Matteau on the roster now but he is obviously on thin ice for the time being.

- Some players, like Samuelsson, will have to be very good in the summer camp and their respective seasons if USAH puts a premium on skating again.

- I'm really interested to see if an underager can crack the roster. Hopefully Eichel (and Clarke but we'll see where he stands with USAH after the Hlinka) dominate to get their names in the mix.

- I would imagine the third goalie spot goes to a player with eligibility going forward (like a Demko). Of note is the Alex Nedeljkovic isn't at the goalie camp that's going on right now in Ann Arbor; however, that could be due to the fact that he will likely be backstopping Team USA at the Ivan Hlinka which crosses over with this camp, or because he's a '96 and he'll have to play his way into the mix via the Hlinka and start of the OHL season. I still figured they would have given him a look at the pre-camp as well, although Gillies isn't there either, so we'll see there.

- The missing star power (Galchenyuk, Trouba, Jones) will be tough to overcome but I still like the pieces they have here. Definitely a medal contender but they will need to gel quickly.

Man looking at the 2014-15 WJC tourney, and what could be possible for the US to put out there, one has to be insanely excited about how our next few years should look.

Paul Bittner - F
Jack Eichel - F
Sonny Milano - F
Jack Glover - D
Adam Erne - F
Taylor Cammarata - F
Steve Santini - D

Chase De Leo - F
Keegan Iverson - F
Ian McCoshen - D
Ryan Macinnis - F
Dylan Larkin - F
Hudson Fasching - F
Joshua Jacobs - F
Chris Wilkie - F
Marcel Godbout - F
Aaron Haydon - D

Shane Eiserman - F
Shane Gersich - F
Tyler Kelleher - F
Connor Hurley - F
Ryan Fitzgerald - F
Evan Allen - F
Brian Williams - F
Ryan Mantha - D

....just off the top of my head... sure there are a number of 97's in there, but some very highly skilled 97's to say the least that some could be in consideration for this squad.

Overall a ton of talent which I am sure I am missing soooo many names...but the high end skill is going to be there for a few years to come. Obviously losing some players to the NHL will happen, but I think at least the 2014-15 team could be one of the most talented groups we have ever iced. Still a long ways to go with the chance of many of these kids fading away like McColgan, Jacobs, Ambroz, Moffatt, etc did...but I like the amount of top players we have and the depth is there to balance it out.

Missing a ton of US Highschool kids, especially out of Mass and Minny.

good to see the list with the updated draft rounds now put in :

http://worldjuniors.usahockey.com/ne...rrer_id=797432

after the draft, there really arent any omissions I would say still besides Hurley, Downing and possibly Sanford who is a late riser and a kid who will have plenty of eyes on next year.

man this squad could be filled with 4th and 5th rounders!! this will be one gritty and scrappy group!

I thought there'd be a minuscule chance that Jones going to Nashville meant he might be available this year, but considering they just waived hall gill, I'm going with no.

I saw a quote from the Nashville coach stating Jones would start the season paired with Shea Webber. I'd have to agree with your "no"

No because he wasn't snubbed last year in the first place.

The team won Gold. By simple and basic definition nobody can be snubbed.

Kerdiles mentioned that he's moving back to center, next year. Any chance that happens with the national team as well?

for the ppl pencilling in matteau on the team ... why do you want him there? i'm not intentionally being obtuse or anything...but is anyone worried about his lack of hockey sense (both in in his style and re his on ice decisions)?

That D with Jones and Trouba on it plus Gibson was crazy good. They will be missed.

he has flaws, but he has many positives as well. He has played in the pros already and will be doing so again this season. if he is available to the US team he is a lock imo. but everyone knows his MO and history so I agree he is a risky selection but a worthy one as well.

Cammarata and Guentzel on the same team. Nice. Kinda funny they were drafted one right after the other as well.

I may have to break down and buy the games for Team Blue.
