This probably went under the radar but what do you guys think about signing Benoit Pouliot? Tampa didn't qualify him yesterday so he's now a free agent. He's only 26, plays LW, was a top 5 overall pick, had a pretty good season last year and will be super cheap to sign. I say why not? Not many decent LW's out there we can sign for under $1 million like Pouliot.

Oilers didn't sign Peckham. Hope the Kings give him a look.

If you can't make the Oilers crappy defensive squad, you can't make the Kings or anybody's really...

See somewhere in Herby's rant about CT....he goes into it in more detail....

If Peckham wasn't brought back by the Oilers what makes anyone think the Kings would have interest.

No room for a goon defenseman in a league that is rapidly phasing out goons. Nothing against Peckham personally, but the league will be much better when guys like him aren't around.

And another thing on Teubert, pretty amazing how, five years after being a first round pick in a pretty stacked draft you are a healthy scratch in the AHL. I hated the pick from the second it was made, but no way did I think he would be this awful, atleast Jessiman was playing in the AHL and not in the press box.

Teubert is not even that bad of a pick.

There are far worse picks the Kings have had.

Can any of you tell me who this guy is Joey Ryan.......

Yah picked 48th overall in 2006, two picks before Milan Lucic.

Never even set foot on AHL ice till this last season.

That is a terrible pick, the Kings got nothing out of Ryan....NOTHING.

At least Teubert got the Kings Penner.

But every single GM in the NHL has a story like that. Every single one.

lolololololol @ the Flyers - buy out one past his prime center and sign another one to another long deal. Meanwhile, their D and goaltending is a complete disaster.

If anyone refers to us again as "Flyers West" I'll come right through the monitor at them - lol. That cluster of an organization bears ZERO resemblance to the Kings.

The Dave Taylor/Al Murray era had some gems in the 2nd round as well, like Dany Roussin and Sergei Anshakov and Konstantin Pushkarev. Or wasting 2nd round picks on overage Euros like Jaroslav Bednar and Andreas Lilja. Some astute maneuvers there!

Just what in the hell are the Flyers doing ?

Homer is just shooting in the dark now uhh ?

That owner is totally overriding Homer, he can't be that stupid.

Kings fans use to remember what that felt like with a Non Hockey mind meddling.

Like you said, every NHL GM has a story like this. But crazy thing is that Al Murray, then-Kings Director of Amateur Scouting, claimed that he wanted Lucic but Lombardi asked for Ryan to fill organizational need for young d-men.

Visnovsky was one of those guys too. Kaberle had a few years in the league, and won a Cup.

That was back before the cap. The Kings couldn't attract the big free agents at the time. They still can't, but there are a lot of players on the team that aren't Kings if not for the cap. After bringing Palffy in, the Kings had to try to win now. One of the ways for the Kings to do that at the time was draft older Europeans and hope they could contribute right away. It usually didn't work, but I get the thinking of it.

That would hardly be surprising. Murray who never wanted d-men, DL who wanted d-men in his first few years at any cost.

Even though it wasn't a good pick, you can say that they made the most out of trading him. It's not like he's walking away from the Kings or even got claimed off waivers.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Rob Scuderi's camp has fielded calls from other teams today. But LA very much still in the mix

Ugh, this is what I was scared of. If he hits FA, I think we lose him. Teams have more money to spend on Scuderi annually, money we probably won't be able to match.

Or he will find out that the Kings aren't that far off and will take the lower cap hit to stay with LA.

I could see him going to the Islanders for long term, overpayment. If I were him, I'd consider it too. He goes back home, plays for his favorite team, gets the money and security for his family, and the Islanders are actually starting to become competitive even though a cup is an extremely long shot.

We will likely lose him, it's not a shock. He's a money guy, he's always been a money first guy.

It's not like we can complain about him going for the money either, it's the reason he signed with the Kings in the first place. We'll see, hopefully it doesn't drag on forever and he makes his decision by Friday.

Scuderi knows what position the Kings are in and that they can only afford so much. It's not like they are holding out on him. I like Scuds a lot but that's the position we are in. We'll see what happens.
