New roommate moved in a couple months ago, just a Craigslist find, didn't know him. We ended up getting really drunk and hooking up the night he moved in. Figured it was a one-time thing at first but then we kept at it, spending a ton of time together and ended up getting along really well. He just got out of a six-year relationship where they lived together for five years. Obviously the whole thing wasn't the best idea but I still figured we could have fun for a bit. Of course I fell for him, since it felt like we were dating... We'd make plans to go to the movies, make dinner together, walk the dog... After a party the other night we were laying in the hammock on the balcony, looking at the clouds, me lying on his chest, and he kissed me. Now, he always gives me a hard time about kissing him unless we're in his room (because it's too relationshippy) so I gave him a hard time about it and broke down and asked him what he wanted... The answer being what I expected, and the opposite of what I wanted to hear. That he needs to be single for a while, and maybe someday down the road.... So I feel like an idiot because I knew what was coming but I'm still feeling heartbroken because we were getting on so well, and the past few days have felt like a breakup, like we're keeping up appearances, and I'm kicking myself for not keeping my mouth shut, and for letting myself like him.

Bah. Sorry. Thanks for listening, guys.
Woof.

I have no advice, but that sucks.

Thanks. Yeah. I was absolutely asking for it, and it sucks just the same. Haha it's even worse because he's a great guy and he does really care about maintaining a friendship... But I worry it's just not gonna be the same again as friends because of the distance we need to keep.

I wouldn't kick yourself for saying something. Sometimes we would rather not know the truth so we live with the illusions we've created, but then we just drive ourselves nuts wondering if perception is reality.

In the long run, asking him where things stand was the right thing to do. It might suck for a while, but it's better in the long run. **** will eventually work itself out.

This. I've been through enough BS with stuff like this. It sucks for you right now, but it's far better than either assuming you're something you're not, or being stuck in limbo.

Chin up.

Anne Burrell is making beets on the Food Network right now.

And my fingers automatically wanted to type 'beers' instead of 'beets'. Was a struggle.

Here are the top 10 cities to make the T+L "America's snobbiest cities" list. Per CNN

1. San Francisco

2. New York City

3. Boston

4. Minneapolis/St. Paul

5. Santa Fe, Seattle (tie)

7. Chicago

8. Providence, Rhode Island

9. Washington D.C.

10. Charleston, South Carolina

Just thought this was amusing. How does it feel not to be #1?

We're snobbier than Seattle

If you look at the criteria that went into making that list, it appears that being a well educated, somewhat affluent, culture-rich city is the new definition of snobby. At least thats what I got out of it

Is there a better feeling than putting your out of office message up prior to a long weekend?

I don't think so.

My mom is getting her first pedicure today. In her *cough60scough* I shouldn't talk since I got my first one last year.

I definitely gotta start treating myself more especially after those 10+ hour days on my feet.

Thanks, dudes. Appreciate the thoughts. Spending the weekend apart before we go to the cape together next weekend... Hopefully the space helps so we can make it through next week!

I heard my aunt goes once a month. Maybe my mom will start twisting my arm to go more frequently.

They had wine here. So I'm relaxed with a buzz.

You could just become a sponsor and the ads go away entirely.

Not just saying this, but I've considered it.

But right now it sits at the bottom of my long list of expenses.

I hear that. There are also browser told you can use to block ads. But I won't promote that here, being that I'm a mod and shouldn't.
