Well you won't see that 4th line too much tonight. I would've moved up Lats or Laps to make things a little more even.....But if we're confortable of playing only 3 lines tonight, well you best players will play and you'll have them more in your face, so that way it's a good thing. But 5 minutes each for those guys is my prediction, with Murray ending up with a little more because of the PK.

I'm very surprised with Lapierre's speed and offensive in Hamilton. I think this guy could center Perezhogin and Johnson, at least for a game or two.

I hope Bonk and Laps play and Murray sits. The kid deserves a chance. Murray has struggled so far this season, exept for last game in which he looked decent to me..
I noticed that too. Bonk is not necessarily out for this evening's game. Seems it will be a game-time decision.

Like you, I would however like to see Lapierre play regardless. So take the place of Murray if Bonk plays.

So is Begin going to center the 3rd line or is Johnson going to do it? Begin is much more effective on the wing.

some here still think Latendresse might get send down to JR.

good to see Carbo AGAIN come out yesterday and say he staying all season .

Carbo is doing it right breaking him in slowwwww .There is absoulty no hurray .

letting him earn and learn his way off the 4th line is very smart .

also good luck to Lapierre

Yes! I like this kid. More grit in the lineup, I like it.

I love Lapierre and think hes in the right spot. Im just not sure about Bégin on the 3rd. Latendresse would've filled the void. Perezhogin is quick enough and johnson has good back-checking capabilities. I don't see what's the problem with replacing Bonk by Johnson and giving Lats a chance. At least this option would provide more offensive upside of the 3rd line.

But, we never know, maybe Bégin on the 3rd will some much needed grit. Anyways, whatever happens, I'm sure it will be a good hockey game!

First off I hope Bonk is playing tonight(can't beleive I just said that)

Anyways IMO if Latendresse is not given a chance to produce with better offence of players when another player is injured, the guy is simply loosing his time in the NHL.I don't understand why Carbo would move up Begin and not play Johnson at center. The kid deserves at least 1 chance.

My question is, with Downey out, why hasn't someone been called up earlier to be that extra guy in case of situations like these?

It could be because Johnson is not a center and Begin has played the 3rd line center role well for us plenty of times in the past. Also, the most important role of the 3rd line is still defence, especially if we hope to shut down Afinogenov - Roy - Vanek line, which has been on fire.

Probably has something to do with the cap.

He's not loosing his time in the NHL, he's learning how to play defense. Once he learns how to play the system well, then maybe he could earn more ice time.

That's where we realize how important Bonk is to this team...

Perez - Begin - Johnson sounds like crap
Perez - Bonk - Johnson sounds pretty good

I was impressed with what I saw of Lapierre on Friday night in Hamilton. I like his energy.

I don't like Bégin as a center, he does a much better job at the wing. These are the lines I'd like to see:

Higgins-Koivu-Ryder
Samsonov-Kovalev-Latendresse
Perezhogin-Plekanec-Johnson
Bégin-Lapierre-Murray

Of course the second line raises question marks. It's been a while since Kovalev played center and Latendresse would have to raise his game to expectations, but I'd be much more confident in our third line's ability of containing the Sabres with Plekanec there. The Pleks-Perez duo has also proven to be an offensive threat.

Well this is pretty cool

we almost all agree that's so rare.

I would like the
Pez-john-Lats line

But would be also happy with Laps at centre on the third since I'm just don't beleive Bégin is at is best at centre. He's really grown into is role whish he can better do as a winger.

Still I hope Bonk's absent is not felt to much and we get away with a crutial win tonight.

Yes but at least they still maintain the PBJ (Peanut Butter and Jam) line. Clearly that is why Carbo moved Begin up to the third.

I think Bonk will try his hardest to be able to play. If anything, he's not known for quitting. He's a hard-working player.

Also, I'd rather have Murray on the ice than Lapierre. This is a very important game, there's no need to test-drive a new line if we don't have to.

Well done Max, just keep playing your game and you'll get some more time in the NHL. He's played well in Hamilton lately and as the opportunity is there at the moment, he deserve the call up. Pending how long he is in Montreal, this could become a slight issue for Hamilton. They are already in need of at least an extra gear and they just lost Lappy. Hope the rest of the team steps up to cover him while he is with the Habs.

Murray isn't a center. If Bonk can't play, I'd feel safer with Lapierre. Also, Murray hasn't impressed me this season.

It's kind of funny that some people were giving the calder Cup to the Buldogs before season started because of all these great rookies. That's the word: "rookies". They are very "green" in Hamilton this year. Or maybe a better coach than Dan Lever is required.

Hey...we are talking about a FOURTH line here. They can match physically the Sabres' fourth line at least.

Since it's only for 1 game or 2, i think it's ok to have Johnson as a center. That 4th line is gonna be great too. Alot of speed and grit.

Edit: habs911 ... greats minds think alike
I like that if Bonk doesn't play.

NO WAY Carbo puts Lats & Lapierre on tha same line, Sabres will eat them up. Remember Peters will be out there Vs the 4th line and he hits like a truck. I think Carbo will try to shelter the two rookies with more experience. We could see a 3 line 3rd period with Perez - Johnson - Begin playing on the 3rd and Murray - Lapierre - Latendresse nailed to the bench. I hope though that Murray - Lapierre - Latendresse electrify the Bell centre and play the game of their lives.

Go Habs Go
