Philly Media destroying Goaltenders?

Philly is obviously a media machine, and a tough market to play in. Goalies play well, come here, and struggle, a la Bryz. Goalies also leave here and shine, a la Bobrovski.

With 21 goalies since 98 coming through the organization, do you think there is more than meets the eye? More than just "taking chances on bad goalies"...?

I dislike 90% of the people in Philly sports media--not just hockey.

The beat writers are as dumb as a bag of nickels, but they couldn't force a ho out of church, much less a goalie out of town. It's a similar fable to the "revenge offer sheet".

All these guys stepping up and commenting on how harsh the media is and how tough it is to play in Philly are really just exposing themselves as mentally weak and ill-confident. Grow a pair.

I think not stopping the puck enough is the Flyers goaltenders problem.

I don't know about the media but I feel if a goalie can just be good not great but good in this town right now he would be idolized.

If Mason gives this team under 3 GA and .91 - .92 save percentage he would be so appreciated in this goalie starved town.

Missinelli and his 2 minnions on before him would take their shots, Pinhead Panotch would be his normal miserable self and Charchidi would take his shots as well. Most of the media would have the condescending "just wait he'll fail like the rest attitude".

Personally, I would cut off my little toe for Checkmanek or Phil Myer right now.

We already have a virtually identical discussion in the "Bob says Philly is severe for goalies" thread.
