He's the first TN to play in the NHL and played for the Montreal Canadiens continuing the family legacy.

And he's only 25, what else will he do?

He can lean on his dad for advice (apparently he's an insurance salesman in Brentwood/Nashville area)

This news made me sick to my stomach

Luckily he has a degree to fall back on if things go that way. Let that be a lesson to all you kids out there. Health and education come first.

whe the injury was described several months ago I thought for sure it would be the end of his career.

It would be one thing if by returning he could possibly have signed a multimillion dollar deal, but this kid would have to risk his noggin just to be a 'tweener.

Best wishes to Blake, have a long and healthy life...

Even if he took 2 years off, he still would be 27.

With a plate in his head, I think he is scared to attempt it, hence the fact he's considering calling it quits

I've never had a plate in my head or studied that part of medicine so I can't tell how much it effects you or if the skull can properly heal enough to remove it.

Maybe he could do like the 49ers Steve Wallace did and come back with a "Double" Helmet

He is only thinking about retiring! Some websites already have him gone.

He will decide in the next few months...

He is back on the ice, doing light training.

Sorry to hear that. As a Wisconsin fan, it was a joy to watch him play at UW and I hoped that he would have a great NHL career.

Geoffrion just announced his retirement via twitter. He says he decided to "step away from the game of hockey for the time being." I hope he recovers and I also hope his brother is successful here in Nashville.
