Two points: first, Schenn sucks at wing and was playing very well with Voracek on his wing. Second, the flyers could still use a right handed pmd.

With that in mind
Hartnell-Lecl-Giroux
Voracek-Schenn-Read
Gagne-Couturier-Simmonds
Rinaldo-Talbot-Misc.

Timmonen-Schenn
Gross man-Gus
Streit-Coburn
Blum (right handed pmd)

Mason
Tbd

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavalier-Simmonds
Gagne-Couturier-Read
Talbot-Laughton-Rinaldo

Timonen-Schenn
Streit-Coburn
Gustafsson-Grossman

Mason
Emery

I think this is the most likely option if Coburn doesn't get traded, Gagne resigns for cheap, and Thomas is signed as a FA. I'm happy with this roster for next season.

We don't have to wait for LTIR, you can go over the cap by 10% in offseason right? (that adds $6.4m effectively).

I guess just adding a keeper, Thomas probably is the best out there, and resigning Gagne on a cheap deal would complete the team if Schenn is now a winger. Not convinced with he should be though but any trades that could happen now you'd have to think involved a Schenn, Couturier or Laughton. Don't see the point in trading Coburn now, he's probably our most valuable D asset and getting rid of him for a 3rd line winger (when, if Gagne resigns, we have enough forwards) is a backwards step. We don't actually need cap space really, there's still plenty there. If you did then dump Mesz, he's worse than Coburn for a similar cap.

Power Play 1-2:

Schenn/Vinny/Read/Streit/Gus

Short Handed 1-2:

Couturier/Talbot/Grossmann/Coburn
Giroux/Read/Kimmo/Schenn

That right there is a great looking line up. I can't wait to see the mismatches that Vinny line will bring. Him matching up against the other teams 3rd or 4th line will be huge. I am hoping both Schenns take a big step this season because they both were out of position way too often last season. Our third and our fourth lines look to be very defensively sound with the capability to put up points here and there.

What's great with this Vinny acquisition is that any way you cut it, we are going to have a very effective top 6. So many combinations to put together and it will be interesting to see what comes together.

My biggest concern (one of them) was Schenn not being ready to be the 2C we need. Yeah, he sucked at wing but he kind of sucked at center too. I blame that on lack of coordination overall between our forwards last year. Bottom line, we all thought Carter sucked on the wing and had to be a center to maximize his potential. But right now he's thriving on the RW in LA.

I honestly think Schenn could be effective as a wing if given the right opportunity. He's been better at C here, but I don't see it as an issue.

Brayden needs someone on his line that is both good playmaker, can make good passes and is strong away from the puck, because Brayden tends to chase the play and take himself out of position for reads. He needs someone who can create plays while he creates room, forces turnovers and finishes.

Its kind of weird seeing Giroux & Lecavalier as your #1 & #2 C. I hope he hasn't lost it because he could be crazy effective here.

How about Raffl as a long shot? Just noticed he did better than Filip Forsberg on same team in Sweden during lock out. Older so probably more nhl-ready. Can play either wing.

Mason/Thomas

Mez will be dealt at some point - hopefully he is healthy and we can sell higher as opposed to his current all time low.
Gervias and The Dane (or the AHL D de jour Manning/Alt) call ups
I would be ok with Huskins again as a #7
I would also be fine with Adam Hall back on a one year for the 4c and move Talbot to wing.

The money and term are too much for me with Vinny and I know I am in minority there.

If you trade Mez for a bucket of slop, you can probably bump Gags' cap hit up a tad. Don't mind Thomas, just don't think he'll come cheap, so I went Khudobin.

I still Gustafsson has to be plugged in as a top 6 guy this year. Anything less and they'll have ruined his development.
