How's that bashing anyone? You guys were trying to justify the return Bernier received proclaing that 500k would help you retain Scuderi. Just wondering how that's all changed now.

Because it was speculated that to retain Scuderi we would have to offer him money similar to the contract he was on, which was 3.4 million. The money we saved on the Bernier trade put us right at the 3.5 mark which would have been perfect. However, it now appears that Scuderi is looking to cash in on his possible last contract with a weak Defensive free agent pool.

The kings saved about 600k in cap space on the bernier deal. Nothing to brag about.

It is when you're that tight to the cap. It gave the Kings a fighting chance to re-up Scuderi, not to mention anyone else who might command around 3.5 million on the open market.

Whoever signs him will have a nice piece of the puzzle in place. Good #3-4 Dman able to eat up solid minutes.

If he comes to Toronto that's fine with me. Toronto needs a lot of help on the 4-5-6 defenseman position, and he could definitely help there.

That, plus the Islanders need to get to the cap floor so he will be over paid by Snow.

Would be my main UFA target for the Habs after the horrible defense we had late last year.

If the Penguins move Niskanen, which we have to do If I'm honest then I hope we go for Scuderi to replace him.

My guess is that it is more about term than just money. He probably wants 4+ years and the Kings won't give him that. Even last season he wasn't the same player he was the season before. Would love to have him back but not on a contract for more than two years.

Exactly pretty sure that's where he's leaning by saying that he wants to play in the east, He's heading home to the Islanders makes way to much sense.

I'm getting very nervous. Islanders NEED to sign a player like Scuderi and/or Ray Emery if they want to continue to be competitive.

We've been that 'hard to play against' team for a while, but that only gets you so far. If we sign scuds we got a rock solid blueline group.

Amac - Hammer
Scuderi - Visnovsky
Strait - Donovan

We have so much cap space, give the dude 4.5 for 4 years.

Toronto fans claiming Toronto born players will return home results in them being flamed and bashed here, but other teams fans do the same and it's expected and perfectly fine!

HFBoards logic.

He would be ideal for Washington. They need more leadership.

Toronto fans say it with every player from Toronto, regardless of fit.

Scuderi has said he is looking at the 'East coast'. It doesn't get more east coast than Long Island. He's won 2 cups already and is probably looking for a 'retirement' type contract that the Islanders can afford easily.

It's not just 'coming home' it's a culmination of factors which you decided to ignore.

HFBoards typical post.

I like Scuderi a lot but the terms being bandied about for him are high IMHO.

I can't see giving a player of his caliber and age a deal over three years and more than 4 mill per. That's the ceiling for me and I think that's even a bit high.

He's a solid 3/4 defenseman that doesn't put up points.

The 500 k will help sign someone. So yes still like the deal. Still think its a joke teams get to bail out of bad contracts without punishment in terms of cap hit but that is for a different topic

If we don't sign Scuderi, then we still have that cap space to sign another UFA or make a trade. I don't see what's so hard to understand.
