Would be the 5th most paid player in the NHL. He 100% looked at what Getzlaf and Perry got.

If it's going to go up like people are saying then this won't look too bad.

Kind of crappy of Giroux to insist on more than 8m.

Bah humbug.

I thought we were getting a discount.

Guess not.

I'm not too concerned though as long as it doesn't go over 8.50m.

Captain, plays top line center, top PP, #1/2 pk, on the ice every last minute of the game, a SO performer, ppg past two seasons with under a few points from ppg 3 seasons ago at 25 yrs old.

Was gonna get paid.

No it's not. He took a discount on his last contract. Top scorer, our captain, plays all situations. The man deserves to get paid

Getzlaf and Perry was a UFA-negotiation though. This was not.

Well, perhaps the cap will go up a lot.

You don't fight with your best player over 250-500k, you get it done.

If he's getting around 8.3, was he asking for 8.5+?

Say what ever anyone wants, he is the face of the Flyers. Losing him over a few extra dollars a year wasnt a choice.

Yea but a little discount would be nice. Considering he's not Malkin or Crosby. And he's not as accomplished as the duck players. Anything over 8 is too much. 1.5 seasons of great play is not enough. Look at bobs deal. .5 a vezina doesn't mean you are getting the max deal

So we should nickel and dime our franchise player over 600k ? Has this place really come to this ?

If he waited a year he could of got 9+ million as an offer sheet.

Ehh, more than I hoped for but not more than he deserves. Giroux deserves that much.
