Just refreshing to see the Habs scouting young Swedish talent. It seemed like years since we looked at Sweden for talent.

I wonder if he could become our Silfverberg-lite.

Collberg is more like Silfverberg. De La Rose could become a Loui Eriksson lite tough..

Take a look at the Swedish players who've made a genuine impact in the NHL, then look at where they played after being drafted. If any of you remain excited about De La Rose potentially going to Windsor after doing that, you really shouldn't be.

The Swedish players who have amounted to anything meaningful at all after having played in the CHL can be counted on one finger.

The SHL is good to develop hockey player. Very good but his hockey style is build for small ice with crash and bang, like Landeskog did before him by playing in the OHL.

I still find it funny that after he was drafted one of the first questions he was asked was about his French name.

Are you ****ing serious ?

It was well done in good taste by Leroux at the end of the interview, no biggie.

Whats annoying is James Duthie telling our prospects they better learn french when they really dont have to.

Reading the article, he seems concerned that he won't get sufficient ice time in Leksands.

I'd rather have him play A LOT against kids his own age in the best junior league in the world than play 5-10 minutes a game.

5-10minutes a game playing in 3rd and 4th line situations or top-6 minutes playing in top-6 situations?

Pretty sure the latter would be better for his development as a top-9/top-6 forward in the NHL.

In this case though, we have a player that needs to improve his offensive game, from what I gather as I have only seen him at the wjc's. Playing limited ice time on the bottom lines vs what could end up being a ton of ice time in the OHL, in this case it might be better for De La Rose to go the CHL route this time.

The interview I saw of De Le Rose on the habs site he asked it right away.

Duthie is a bit of a tool, though.

Yeah, I understand the argument that no Swede other than Landeskog has done well in the CHL.

But who were the high profile Swedes that have gone there? I can't really remember many.

De La Rose needs to develop his offensive game. This isn't Collberg who needs to get stronger and learn defense and has offense in spades learning to score in the big league,

Nic Bergfors comes to mind.

Oscar Moller is another.

I loved both players in their draft years.

I loved Moller as well. I don't know, I just think his development stalled in the AHL not OHL.

A certain number of players just bust anyways. I don't think there's anywhere near the sample size necessary to say "CHL bad for Swedes."

I know he's a goalie, but Robin Lehner has developed well after playing in the CHL.

Jaco De La Rose: I really want to play in Windsor next year, I think that would be the best for my development. Not up to me, up to Leksand.

For those who watch tons of ohl, how do the spitfires look for next year? Looking to contend? Would DLR get a ton of minutes?

The Spits should be pretty good next season..obviously they'll be better if DLR joins the team. Their top six forwards could be strong:

Hang-so
Rychel
Vail
Johnson
DLR
Yazkov

They added Koekkoek last year, and Murphy really produced when he was traded from the Petes:

Murphy
Koekkoek
Ebert
Sieloff

That's a pretty solid top four.

The Spits should compete for a top four spot in the west. Lots of talented 19-year-olds.

You'd think they pair him with 1 of Rychel/Ho-Sang, maybe even both, considering the defensive deficiencies of those 2 players.

Pairing him with Vail on a super 2-way line would be pretty nice too.
