Well either the GM or 6 rings via his boss who is the real fan boy here.

Belanger has lost it, he couldn't light up the Swiss div 2. Some team may pick him up as an extra forward face off guy but lighting it up is out of the question.

Doubt Lowe has anything in fandom for Horcoff over Craig "Horcoff should be on the Olympic team" Mactavish.

But Katz has as much fandom as mact from reports and probably can't stand the fact that his buddy would be *gasp* bought out.

I view this one along the lines of Buck and Smith.

We would really really really prefer if you don't embarrass Horcoff by buying him out. Oh but you are in charge and can do what you want.

This is shocking to me. I don't understand why a compliance would be used to save 400K of cap space

It's a simple transaction. I don't believe MacT is this stupid and am starting to wonder if there is real problems in the way the executive team is organized. It is bordering on negligent oversight, I think we will find out soon this was not a compliance buyout, it makes no sense.

Source? I don't think this has been confirmed as a compliance buyout.

The only time he'll light it up again will be with a light switch.

I'm all for getting rid of Belanger, but why waste a compliance buyout on him when he has only 1 year left at 1.75 million? Why not use a regular buyout??

Finally, addition by subtraction. This guy almost single handedly ruined Magnus Paajarvi's career. The fact that Ralph Krueger thought it'd be a good idea to play him with Yakupov astounds me. Definitely one of the worst players in recent Oilers history.

Nope, that's not how it works. He'll score 5 points against us and 4 the rest of the season.

Addition by subtraction. Good riddance!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Four freaking goals in over 100 games. I guess it's obvious why he complained like a ****** about Yaks celly; he's jealous he forgot how to score goals.

I have a question...when trading a player is it partial CAP HIT that is your option to retain or is it SALARY that you have the option to retain. Either way i think there are too many good players out in the FA market now. There is no way MacT will be getting an asset for Horc . Do i think Horc is a good asset for some teams to acquire at 50% cap hit? Hell yes. But not when this market is now stacked with freebies/

MacT didnt see how expansive the FA crop would become with the buyouts. He has to re-evaluate now. Horc has no trade value, even at 50%cap.

Saddest part, he's gonna get 35 points next season with whomever he signs with.

It's the post-Oilers way. "Regain" your form.

Not getting the hate for this at all. We have two compliance buyouts and the only other contract that looks like it will really need one by next summer is Horcoff, unless we want to pick up another stupid contract...

Why not save a little cap space with the one guy we are buying out?

Because the cap savings aren't that great anyway...
