Posted this earlier but got banned since I disagreed with a few opinions a little too strongly. oops.
Leddy at 2.0 and 2.2 were posted. The guy is 22 and you could qualify him at 3.3M and all you have to give up is a 2nd round pick.
I mean if people don't like Bick at 4 they are gonna hate Leddy coming in at 3 or higher per year. Really, if we sign him for anything less than 3 Stan is doing an amazing job, but his agent is not doing his job if he can't line someone up with cap space willing to lose a 2nd round pick for giving Leddy up to 3.3 mil per year.
I know he couldn't play late in the playoffs for the second year in a row, and yes that is an issue, but there were times during the regular season he was our best defenseman. Did he finish second in scoring on our team for defenseman in the regular season behind Seabrook?
The arrow is pointed in the right direction, and the guy would just be finishing college normally, with very little education in the A. Defense is too hard and expensive to acquire in the FA market to let him go. (I have a number of 2.8 in my spreadsheet that is the most optimistic I can get but I expect him to be in the 3's).
I predict 3.0 for Leddy but would not be surprised at 3.3 to match an offer someone will sign for him. Even at 3.3 for a longish term is great for us. Fair if he stays the same (he won't) and is a steal if he gets any better D wise and then if he really keeps improving to a top 4 d man, the contract at 3.x is awesome!!!
Leddy will NOT be in the lower 2's. I mean are you kidding me? You guys focus on the Cup round while he played great in the reg season and improved his playoff play from last year. As he gets stronger he should only improve. As he learns his position, he will only get better. I mean this guy is 22 and the age some prospects are just showing up now to the team. He is way better than all of those guys.
So hold your breathe it is lower than 3.3.
Again put me for 3.0.
PS kruger will come in at 1.6 or 1.7 for 2 years is my guess.
