Is Bergevin setting up a 2 year tank job?

Have to admit that the Briere signing really bothered me and left me totally puzzled with the direction/plan Bergevin was putting into place. Then I thought back at what he said about building through the draft vs FA and started questioning if maybe he thought is was better to "underperform" the next couple of years and get high draft picks.

Not really something that resonates with this club's history but I'm just trying to make sense of where he is going.

McDavid!

But no, the Briere signing may end up paying off. I think he will prove his doubters wrong, especially on his home province. Plus, he goes beast-mode in the playoffs.

And the acquisition of Christian Thomas was not a bad deal for me, if he gets stronger, he has the potential to be an elite goal scorer, an he's got one he'll of a shot, absolutely ripped up the OHL with the Gens a few years back.

I say the next pointless thread should be about the habs trying to acquire as many small players as possible to make Bettman feel like one of them and pull some strings so we win the cup.

If that's your golden theory, you need to get your head checked. No offence to you man, just your brain.

You don't tank by trading Kristo and signing Briere....

NOW, if they trade Markov or Plekanec is relatively short order for a return that doesn't step on the ice for us in a featured role this year....

If we're bottom feeders for the next 2 seasons, Bergevin will likely be out, so no he's not setting up a tank.

Its still early yet, tomorrow should be interesting. If we sign a big D-man and a big guy for our 3rd or 4th line we should be ok. Best move so far has been the signing of our new goalie coach. I'll save my negativity for the end of the season.
