My concern on Halak is that he played in one of the most defensively ridiculous systems in the NHL and wasn't all that good last year in it. There's a reason the Blues are looking to move him and I think we should be very wary considering him a good option in our system. Perhaps better than Bryz, but not sure.
16 games is a pretty small sample size. I'd be more concerned about injuries than that.
His numbers are pretty much in-line with what he did in Montreal, so I'm not as concerned with him being a product of the system. Brian Elliott on the other hand...
To me Emery is the number one option. If the team is looking into him it means something, b.c he's already been here once. Clearly they think he can gel if that is in fact the case.
The main factors are 1. his familiarity w the organization, 2. His contract and cap hit should be fairly reasonable (anywhere from 2-3M would be my guess), 3. Let's not forget that up until his injury last season, it was him and Crawford splitting time w no clear cut starter.
Taking this into account w all of the other "baggage"(for lack of a better word) around other options, I hope this is true.
better not be 5 yr deal-i was hoping for thomas- but i will say after watching emery alot last season i was more and more impressed with his play, how could you not be (17-1)but beyond the numbers he was so SOLID.
