Now, if everyone wants us to trade Plekanec...that's the man we should have targeted. Give Grabs a "show them they're wrong" contract, and unlike our current situation, Grabovski would be able to split defensive minutes with Eller.

He hates Montreal, but...the Kostitsyns are gone after all. Maybe the spite he has toward the organization would motivate him even more.

I don't know about you guys but I gotta say that Grabovski got a lot better when he played for the Leafs. He had a tough year but I agree that he is a hard working player.

But of course we have no use for him here.

Whopper of a deal for Giroux. Man, the Flyers love to spend money.

As for the Horcoff deal, I really don't know what's so great about Larsen. So far all he's shown in the NHL is that he was a great junior.

Horcoff is still a serviceable 3rd line player. His cap hit is meaningless to Dallas since they are not a cap team. The important number to Dallas is the $7m that is owed to him over the next 2 years, which is a competitive number for a player like Horcoff.

Dallas now has: Seguin, Benn, Horcoff and Eakins (who is really good for them) as their 4 centres. That is a great young group (better than ours for gawd's sake). One the wing, it is likely that Nichushkin plays next year and he is a talent. Add in Whitney (who is still producing), Cole, Peverley (who can be inconsistent but is still a good depth player), a young Alex Chiasson and Brett Ritchie and Dallas is building themselves a talented young core with some good veterans to support them.

The next thing Nill has to do is re-build the defense. Stars are a team that get little offense from their D (outside of Galigoski who is a better player and producer than people think), so I understand getting Gonchar because they really need his O and he's affordable. But, their D is really average and undersized unless Oleksiak makes it this year. Still, Nill has his work cut out for him as far as that D goes.

Overall, I like what Nill has done in his very short tenor. He's added talent: Seguin, Nichuskin, and Gonchar, and added quality depth in Peverley and Horcoff.

On the other hand, what about Edmonton?

Are they actually going to go into next year with RNH, Gagne and Lander as their top 3 centres? I mean that's laughable.

I'd stick with shoring up the D if I were MacT. Dubnyk doesn't scream quality goalie neither.

I heard that as well. I said to myself this must have been some kind of inside joke I didn't get.

Though thinking back on this one, I think Timmins worked with Kekalainen in Ottawa. Maybe they'd want to work together again.

I could see Ribs landing in Tampa, now that they've bought out Lecavalier, they need a #2 C behind Stamkos

Drouin - Stamkos - St. Louis
Malone - Ribiero - Purcell

MacT apparently said he wanted to really overhaul this franchise and be proactive. So far he hasn't done anything. We'll see if that changes over the summer.

Dubnyk is actually pretty good. He's able to be the starter on a team for sure

Am I weird for wanting Grabovski back? Grabovski - Plekanec duo might be effective.

Surely Bergevin could have matched what Ottawa paid for Bobby Ryan? No?? What a steal for the Senators!

I agree. Of all the deals I saw today, this is the one that worries me the most.

In spite of losing Alfie, the Sens are a much improved team with Ryan and McArthur added. Our division as a whole has gotten much tougher over the last 48 to 72 hours.

I have to think we could have matched/beat the Sens' offer. Eller, Kristo, and a 1st would seem somewhat comparable to me (if we still had Kristo).

I don't think MB has done a bad job overall, but I wish he was a bit more aggressive when opportunities like this one arises.

Lee Moffie for Kyle Bagos? Wow, let just say that Moffie's career took a freakin dive....Was looking pretty good at one point but then what a terrible season in Michigan last year...So talent for size. Will see who makes a difference...if any.

Stars have signed Valeri Nichushkin's to three year entry level deal.

Could the big bad Russian be coming to North America right away instead of laughing away in the KHL knowing that he wasted a draft pick, in the name of Putin?

what?

Ribeiro was on RDS and he said he made sure the team was not moving to Seattle before going to the Coyotes. He wanted the nice lifestyle. I think hes gonna do well there under his former coach Tippet.

There was panic before the draft that he didn't want to play in the NHL. Just another case that more often than not, the Russian factor is a self-fulfilling prophecy, and Russian players, like everyone else, just want to go where they are wanted.

A Plek, Grabo, Eller tandem would give us ridiculous possession potential.
