First Komisarek now O'Byrne? Seriously MS what the hell has gotten into you?

We need a defenseman that can play the position without looking like a cone

He will add that physical element that was lacking in the Ottawa series.

Who would you consider the "main man" from this UFA crop? And don't forget the Habs were in on Vinny

As it stands the Habs have the softest roster ever. Better beef up the 4th line today and add a depth defenceman that can log minutes. Could've signed 3 useful players for Briere's price tag. The team straight up isn't good enough. Either thru trade or UFA they better umprove. Realistic hopes: Nystrom and Roszival

Not Briere that's for damn sure. Seriously...it's about the poorest fit on the market. I don't care if they went for Vinny...they signed Briere. 36 year old declining Briere.

I would have just kept Ryder at that point.

Anyways that said I would be against swapping Talbot for Moen if the Flyers are interested
That would make our bottom 6 smaller, plus Phillie is looking for cap relief by moving Talbot(if they do) not a similar contract back.

I think he wanted Craig Rivet back too.

Bergevin went after Lecavalier, Clowe and then Briere.. there isn't else much available not sure why some people expected Bergevin to be busy with FAs today, especially with guys like Clarkson wanting 7 years. We might make some depth signings but clearly our main moves would be via trade.

Yes cause the physical part is the only reason we lost that series. Not because no one steeped up after Eller went down. We scored so many goals against the Sens

The Penguins we're so "though" against Ottawa, not like they scored 6 goals a game either and made Anderson look human

Emelin's injured, Moen was very bad last season and Dumont and White can't really take on middle-weights.

It's pretty likely that next season we'll have the softest lineup of the smurf-era at this rate.

Free agency opens at noon. Contracts can be signed as of 12pm ET.

TSN starts their Free Agent Frenzy show at 12pm on TSN2. Then at 2pm it moves over to the main channel.

That's how I understand it.

I am usually not one to wallow in the misfortune of others... but I would make an exception for the Sens fans... I really grew to dislike them in our first round series.

This is an outcome I would be happy with. Alfie to cross-division rival Wings, that would look good on little brother.

I've seen it mentioned a couple times now that there's a good chance we claim Asham off waivers.

How do you guys feel about this..?

That's a good thing...in a way...don't want them throwing crazy money and term at Horton Clarkson Clowe etc

BUT there are still 3-4 moves needed.
Wasn't LeBrun also denying that we signed Briere?

If the players were not there at the start of UFA, why not wait and keep the cap sape. It's not like it evaporates on July 10th.

Screams of a Gomez-like panic move when Gainey struck out on Lecavalier and Sundin.

I like the idea of adding this kinda player, but does he have anything left? He played 6 mins a game last year. There should be a player for the same price thru UFA with a bit more in the tank. Then again Asham is 35+ and below 6'0 so he fits the direction of the team.
