We just didn't get to our game. There was a force around the net.
Crashing the net only works when you actually get shots on (or at least close to) the net. When you have triple-clutch Letang who prefers to wait until all the shooting lanes have been occupied by bodies, sky-hook Oprik who never saw a pane of glass he didn't like and never-scratch Niskanen who simply doesn't feel the need to contribute (can you blame him at this point?), your net front presence is reduced to Waiting for Godot status.

We'd also need a big body in front to screen the goalie and get rebounds in the crease. None of our current top six wingers play that role. Kunitz tries but he's often not strong enough. Dupuis is a pure rusher. Neal has the size but he's a sniper. Bennett is too good with the puck on his stick to play him in the crease.

I don't think we had anyone for this role since Malone left. Tangradi should have been that but he busted. None of our current forward prospects have the necessary attributes either. Even if they work out almost all of them are undersized.

I had no idea Dallas was actually somewhat near the cap.

Me neither, but I guess it'll happen when you add around $15 million in cap hits since the season ended. (I still don't think Horcoff's hit is a big deal for them since he'll probably be the last piece added to their major area of need.)

Little doubt David Clarkson will get a 7 year term. Some gm's think he will get $6 mil or higher per. #TSN

Our biggest weakness in the playoffs (aside from MAF)
