Laughton could still earn a spot and bump a player from the roster

Tim P. is the source.

It's probably nonsense, as always.

Schenn probably moved back to center at that point even though I would prefer him as wing and Laughton in the middle.

3C is a bad spot for BSchenn.

Fringe role players don't win 59% of their faceoffs.

I'd rather bump Rinaldo, put Laughton on Hall's wing.

Agreed, but it's not what I think. It's what the organization thinks.

Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo

I wish Laughton would play here, but I think for right now, maybe an extra year in the OHL?

but that's all he is, a faceoff guy, and a big body, and I don't want to clal 33 old because that's how old I am, but for a hockey player he is

Then I'll just hope that Meltzer was correct about him moving to fulltime LW.

Trading Mezaros for a pick would crate plenty of space to resign Gagne, and they have all summer to do it.

He can play physically, play defense, and win faceoffs for under a million.

That's what you want out of a 4th line center.

At $2.5m we'd still be under the offseason cap and as soon as Pronger goes on LTIR we're back under... By at least a million I think...

I'd rather begin the season with Pronger on just IR. Having to put him on LTIR right away is not an ideal situation.

Agreed. Moving Mez would get the team under I think. Pronger to LTIR should be a last resort.

What's the difference? Except that cap counting right?

I like Gagne, but let's see what he signs for and then a player like Brunner signs for. I like Brunner a lot.

Brunner is overrated a bit I think. Gagne doesn't have the same offensive punch, but is still more sound.

He was on the 4th line for a while last year, I figured he'd still rather make sure he's a top 9 guy for someone else than to only get ice time when they're down in games

DO IT! Put him on the 3rd line.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
B. Schenn - Lecavalier - Simmonds
Gagne - Couturier - Read

I think that third line could really, really spark Couts' offensive potential. I see those as two first lines and a second line.
