A prodigal son returns...

I'm convinced now that Gaustad is gone.

Yeah I'm thinking Goose and another bottom sixer will be moved in a package. Maybe Spaling?

Poile is having trouble signing Spaling. Look for him to be traded.

I like Hendricks as a depth player. It's obvious, though, that we need another top 6er.

Interesting thoughts about Gaustad and/or Spaling being gone. Could be right with this signing.

This last season was injury/disaster year. I'm thinking next season will shape up to be more rebuilding/development.

It sucks that Horton went to Columbus, though. I don't think he would be our magic pill (plus, the concussion concerns), but that would've been a big move for our top 6.

From a Caps fan, Hendricks is a great 4th liner who is tough and not a liability defensively. One of the very few guys on Washington who actually had heart. Too much $ for us to re-sign him, after all he is just a 4th liner and is out of place anywhere else.

It's not really sinking... more like punching me in the face with brass knuckles

The Nystrom signing was made solely to deflect criticism of this deal. As in, "well if Nystrom got that kind of money then the Hendricks signing isn't that bad." Unfortunately, that only works when its a different freakin team that signed the other bad contract.

You might not like the cap hit but you'll never regret having Hendy on the ice. He's a true warrior and gives his all every night. Plus you'll get to see his surprisingly strong shootout skills every once in a while.

I never get tired of seeing what he did to Thomas

Although its a bit of an overpayment, Hendy is the man. Enjoy him guys.

This is what you get with Hendricks. Thinking Backstrom missed his stick by 6 feet.

Ovechkin was livid afterwards.

Some Caps fans say they are sad, I'm happy. He's not worth over 800k. He was given the chance to play with Ovechkin and Backstrom, then decided he was a sniper who didn't have to pass.

Caps fan here. Im moving to Nashville next week and couldn't be happier that my favorite Capital was picked up by the Preds. He gives 100% every shift, every night. I can't say the contract is fair as I'm not familiar enough with the Preds current roster and payroll etc, but he will be a fan favorite in no time I guarantee you that much.
