I wonder if someone like Hedberg, if he doesn't get picked up, would accept a 2-way deal.

No one can predict how Mason/Emery will do at stopping the puck but one thing the Flyer's signings have done is provide skill sets to the line up that will off set a big weakness ---- the d not transitioning the puck up ice & not getting hemmed up in their own end.

Puck Possession - Vinny and Hall both are around 54% on F/O which will get them possession of the puck. Both are also big centers that aren't easily knocked off the puck.

Mason and Emery are both light years better then Bryz at moving the puck so teams can't just dump it in the corner and hem the D in their own end. Having goalies that can move the puck and take pressure off of the D will make the d and forwards look better.

Streit adds an element that was taken for granted with Carle. Streit won't take the puck end to end but he can make a clean outlet pass.

I think the d will look much different next season.
That is absolutely huge for us and cannot be possibly stated enough even though it's something we've generally glossed over as an afterthought.

We cannot get hemmed in our zone this year. Streit and Mason/Emery do a lot to help that.

Number is perfect, term is perfect, player is ok. The goalie problem is probably not fixed, but at least it's a way cheaper problem now. Hopefully Mason will step up this year, and become a legit starter.

Hopefully the saying "you get what you pay for" works in our favor in a positive way because paying Bryz didn't exactly work out either.

Just in case, is anyone here not making a lot of use of at least one of their hips?

Hey have to spend money somewhere. Can't have great offense great d and goalie and spend accordingly. Now we have two guys that are good and have a chance to be very good. Emery at least will be a avg goalie with around a .910 sv % not bad at all.

Love this signing, cheap hit, only one year, low risk, let Mason and Emery battle it out for the starting future job in Philly. Two goalies with a big chip on their shoulders

Agrees. That's why the team looked better with Mason even with an AHL with all the injuries.

Just got in and saw the two goalie moves we've made and am really pleased. Would probably have preferred Khudobin but by a hairs breadth. Short term was the most important thing and it's done. I don't think I've been this pleased with the Flyers offseason in quite a while.

Funny when we were in full riot mode last Sunday.

That's the fun of the sport right? There's always so many possibilities that no one sees what's coming and we all get wound up. I'm still not sold on B. Schenn being a winger but I wouldn't prefer we didn't get Vinny... Looks like a well balanced team to me right now...

All those clowns on the main board saying Emery was getting a 5 year deal.

I was not pleased when I saw that, partly because I believed Holmgren could do it... That fact that he's made another good choice leads me to wonder if there's someone else telling him what to do these days... Or maybe he saw my post about why we should only have signed a goalie to a short term deal

Don't say his name three times or he'll re-appear to haunt us.

Just got home from work and I am thrilled about this. 1 year and under $2mil. This is a great temporary fix for our goaltending.

Cheap cap hit, low risk for 1 year, liked Emery when he was here and kept watching him when he went elsewhere.

The biggest thing to me is that he came here... again. After the last few goalies imploded under the pressure here, Emery decided to come back.
