Well, Sather hasn't done anything stupid yet, while the other teams in our division have, so today is a win so far.

Fighting isn't overrated. Finding it in a player who can play in the top-9 is very difficult.

According to those claiming this toughness equals willingness to drop the glowes.

Rangers have some of the best size in the league in their prospects, if they need size, then get the kids ready

It may seem that way on this board, but in my discussions with fans over the years, that has never been a take away.

Generally speaking, Rangers fans really appreciate a tough player. I think they just appreciate a tough player who can play a complete game and contribute.

Nick Fotiu stands out in my mind. Never scored many goals, but the guy could skate, shoot and of course fight any body in the league.

IMO, that is a player we could really use on the 4th line. Very hard to find that kind of player or least very hard for the Rangers in recent years.

This. Someone who will stand up to the other team if they take liberties. Someone who can PK and skate well enough to get in on the forecheck and make a difference there. Multi-faceted but able to drop the gloves.

This team lacks those kinds of guys. Dorsett is 1. He can't do it all himself.

Chicago had the 3rd least fighting majors in the league, the least hits, the least blocked shots.

I think there's a chance of talking them into Del Zotto (like we talk ourselves into him) as a starting point. But a very slight one, and I pretty much agree with you. Don't see it happening.

But I do believe Del Zotto's ability to put up points could look very enticing to teams that don't watch him play every day, and we could get a surprisingly good deal out of him.

I'm thinking the rangers are gonna let's the kids play. Let them see what they have . The roster was designed for torts and now we have a whole new management / coaches ... They are gonna give them the opportunity to see what they have and make deals a month or two into the season

Toughness needs to be address. How many times have the rangers came out flat or one of the players would get crushed and no one would go respond . I'm sorry but if you guys like that, but I didn't grow up okay with that type of hockey , either playing or watching

I don't know why anybody would want us to sign a 4th liner, when we already have like 10 of them under contract. We didn't lose because of our 4th line.

They also had probably the most technically well rounded and capable line ups in the league. Along with some guys who very capable physically. When you have that much skill, you can make other teams pay.

Is your point that physically intimidating players make no difference?

They did get spanked against Boston 4th line vs 4th line. But that was with Richards in it

Callahan - None fighting forward who defines the word 'tough'.

Always finishes his checks. Takes care of business around the crease. Doesn't shy away from throwing jabs and facials during melees.

He's also tough to play against. Shot blocking, board play, tenacious effort.

You don't need a big team full of guys who can drop the gloves. Assemble a team full of hockey players who have some balls. Guys that don't take **** from the opposition. Guys that have a high motor and hit with a purpose. If they can drop the gloves, it's an added bonus but fighting and toughness don't go hand-in-hand in today's NHL, imo.
