Montreal trades for Parros ---get Thornton some help already

Thornton is as tough as nails, but is small for a 2013 "heavy" and should not have to go up against all these guys from our rivals list:

-Parros
-Orr
-McLaren
-Kassian
-Scott

Those guys all have tons of size on Thornton and are a threat to beat him up. I love Thornton, but he just keeps getting older it just keeps getting worse for him. A few years ago he was the big shark in the divisional waters and now he is looking like chum for some of these guys.

He's too old and too small relatively speaking) to be going up against all these guys. The Habs will likely sit Parros lots but play him every game against the Bruins. The word is out to run Chara and get him off his game. We should play Thornton 50 games this year (after a long playoff run that is more than enough) and should be looking at getting a 600k hulk who can be put into the line-up when the divisional rivals decide they want to rough it up.

We should have reacquired MacDermid in the Eriksson deal.

if thornton cant do the job... thornton loses the job

meat heads like this list you name get 5-7 mins of ice per game... they are non factors. they fight the other teams goon 15-20 times a year

real tough guys that make a differnce are guys like chara and lucic that can actually intimidate the stars on the other team

we got more of them then anyone else... we are still number 1

if thornton has to take a few extra punches in the head this year to earn his 1.1 mill... sorry but thats his job.

whether he wins those fights or not... is irrelevent. he just has to show up

other teams are trying to get team tough by having a goon in their lineup... goons dont make any team team tough

we are fine

Thornton can actually play though. He's not a goon for the sake of a goon the way Parros and Scott are. And it's not like if we don't have a true heavyweight to take on those guys, they're gonna go out head hunting our players or anything. That doesn't really happen as much these days. Players like them are a dying breed, and imo, aren't worth the roster spot. And if push really does come to shove, Chara would kill any one of them effortlessly.

People here don't care about a 37 Year old Thornton getting his face beat in every night. Seemingly neither do the Bs.

Thornton actually plays decently, I'd rather an undersized enforcer who contributes somewhat than a nobody that happens to be really big.

Colt: don't disagree with you. Wondering, though, if you feel like Dart Quaider should be stepping it up a bit more. I know he had come back from some interesting injuries at the beginning of last year (rib removed, iirc) and if he's fully healthy, his nastiness could be very welcome. Be he's still light for a big guy.

Thorts will fight all of those guys, but it'll take it's toll on him.

"Just showing up" doesnt cut it in Boston. We need someone to pound people and Thortons done a dam good job of that. Hes getting old and needs some help or we need a new "Goon'. Its good for team morale, its good for the fans and its part of the Bruins tradition. Who wants to pay 100 bucks for a ticket to see our guys get pounded? No one.

Bingo it's Thornton or someone else! No good team would play with two goons full time.

I'd take Asham.

Dress him to fight the goons, move Paille up on those days.

Good post Alberta. I'll lose a fight to win a game. Scott really helped Buffalo this past year. LOL

There is no point in playing him against Buffalo, for example, as he is totally submissive to Scott now. Alternate him out with a big, mean dude that can play a little.

I want to pay 100 bucks to see the team win games. I don't think Parros would help us do that.

He was off for a week, then the Bruins went on an extended run while the Sabres imploded.

I love fighters and fighting, but CJ is not going to play a guy like that, he didn't when McGrattan was here and he won't if they go pick up another guy like that.

I do not: even if healthy, he isn't in the same weight or ability category as those guys.

If Thornton can't handle it, maybe they should be looking at replacements instead of help. He's paid decent coin to do this exact job. If he's not taking on heavies 15 times a year, he's a 600K player.

I don't think anyone steps up more than McQuaid. He seems willing to go with anyone at any time.

I agree with you but until he puts on another 15 pounds he runs the risk of getting hammered by a guy like Scott. Its an arms race. If you dont have a deterent your guys will get beat up. Look at the Habs the last few years.
