Price is definetely not bad compared to what other fourth-liners (Gordon, Nystrom, Hendricks) have got today but I just can't help thinking is Lapierre really what Blues need?

Defensive center that hits, A LOT? He's willing to fight now, but will lose a fair share of them. Great signing for you guys. If STL is looking for skill instead of grit, Lappy isn't what you guys need. Perfect for the STL system, as long as he doesn't dive.

Huh. I couldn't stand him on the Nucks so at least we're not playing him anymore I guess.

Good, I like this for the 4th line. They are going to be a pain in the ass to play against.

I don't get all the depth center signings. If Army has a plan, I really don't see where it's going.

This is puzzling to say the least. I wasn't aware we needed fourth line help

I figured it out our plan is to sign every single depth player in the NHL and then other teams will be forced to deal us their superstars for more depth.

But seriously I think I'll let Thomas Griffin sum up my reaction:

Waste of cap space unless a big trade is coming.

Probably, but we might just like Sobotka as #3C?

Schwartz - Backes - Oshie
Perron - Berglund - Stewart
Steen - Sobotka - Tarasenko
Porter - Lapierre - Reaves
Cracknell/Aucoin

Bouwmeester - Pietrangelo
Jackman - Shattenkirk
Leopold - Polák
Cole

Halák
Elliott

$13.16m in cap space to sign Pietrangelo and Stewart. Wouldn't be shocked if a trade happened in the next few hours though to give us flexibility.

Not mad at the signing, just sorta....confused. We have to have a trade in the works, otherwise this would make no sense whatsoever.

Also, is Aucoin's contract a 1 or 2 way deal?

Korac is talking as if Lapierre is our third line center. Don't like that one bit. Much prefer Sobotka there.

Seriously doubt Korac has talked to Hitch since the signing...

Weren't we complaining about having interest in this guy a couple years ago? I guess we'll see how it works out. At least it's cheap.

His response of "Sobotka to the wing" sums up his knowledge. It doesn't matter what line he is referring to, it makes no sense.

Army confirms the signing is for the 4th line. We will still be in on a top 6 center.

I like it actually. We've lacked that agitator in recent years and he has a ton of recent playoff experience. Good size and can skate. One of those despise him unless he's on your team type of guys. Good 4th line C.

That was my first thought too. I was always under the assumption Lapierre is a fourth liner.

I don't hate it. Solid 4th liner/pest. Reasonable contract as well.

Sure I like Lapierre but even after signing Aucoin?

He's a great 4th line center but we just signed aucoin who spent all year in the NHL last year!!

What the?
