So assuming we don't re-sign Clowe, we owe San Jose a 5th instead of a 2nd next June?

I get that. I will follow that one now that I know it its there. Lol, I just saw this one at the top of the page, saw free agency in the title and figured this is where non ranger
signings would be discussed.

Clowne signed a big contract with NJ. Would we receive a comp pick for that signing?

4 years $24.25 M APY $4.85M

C'mon. This isn't the time for thinking about comp picks. This is the time to be laughing heartily at the Devils spending more than Lecavalier cost for a guy who had as many concussions as goals last season.

So glad we have stayed far away from all of these signings.

Agreed. But people'll still complain that change isn't being made for the sake of change

I am perfectly content re-signing RFAs and standing pat.

Sather set this team up for the future with the Gaborik trade.

A healthy Staal and a invigorated Richards in addition to what they already have IMO keeps the Rangers as an upper-tier team like they were expected to be before the short season.

I'd say the Clarksson & Clowe signings are competing for the worst contracts of the day.

Sathers has been committed to a mental hospital for psychotic issues after not making any signings today. Thankfully, he has RFAs to keep himself entertained.

They gave Clowe the contract they offered Clarkssson. Leafs must think he is this generations JR.

Not a bad deal for them.

I do have to say though, it's nice to see the Devils patching holes with aging and injury prone UFA's. They're patching the sinking ship with duct tape.

So in Rangers terms, Ryan would have cost Kreider, Miller and a 1st.

I would make that trade every day, all day.

I have a hard time seeing Ryan stay in Ottawa. Bit of a gamble if you ask me.

The Devils have pretty much guaranteed that their 1st rounder wont be a lottery pick by stacking their roster with old, slow veterans.

So in that regard, hats off to Lou for making the Devils a playoff team again.

But that organization is a mess from an asset standpoint.

Cory Schneider AND Martin Brodeur.

Best 1-2 punch since Martin Brodeur and Hedberg.

I wonder what will happen when Schneider outplays Marty. Will the Devils make Marty the backup? Will they sacrifice wins in order to not taint his legacy? Would his ego even allow himself to be a backup?

That is the plan, is it not? At what point did they acquire Schneider to play back up? It might be 70-30 SCH-BRO.
